Tour de Lance 7.0 continues...

Lance may want the win, but knows that he is exacly where he needs to be... confortably in the Yellow jersey. His stage win will come... a look at past tours and you will see that winning day 1 in the Mountains isn't really his MO. He just tears you to pieces over several days... assuming he doesn't do it in one fell swoop as he did to about 170 guys today. :signfutil

Yeah, I'm hoping for a Classic Lance Moment on Ax-3-Domaines. Something like--he bridges from the peleton to the guys that broke away in the first 10k of the race and have been riding like madmen to keep in front, and then he just rips their legs off. Something like that would be cool.

Tour talk has been quiet over the weekend. Lance looks to be well on the way to a 7th title, but still a lot of racing left. Great to see Hincapie win Sunday's stage. A wonderful reward for all his selfless support of Lance over all the years.

👏 👏

Yeah, the look on Hincapie's face when he crossed the line was perfect. Great moment for him, but also for everyone who has watched the guy selflessly support his team for so many years. Great finish to a great weekend of racing for Discovery.

And what about T-Mobile? They threw every tactic they could come up with at Armstrong and they got the initial results they wanted, especially on Saturday. But in the end none of it worked because when it counted, Ullrich couldn't get the job done when Lance turned on the gas.

This has been an enjoyable tour, but it sure seems like it's going by fast. I guess time flies when you're having fun.

Last year I remember him trying to let George win a stage as well, but the Rivals were still dumb enough to think they could win the TDF, so Lance had to go with them and George couldn't quite hang.

George is my favorite cyclist... but I have to say Zabriski is my #2... Lance is #3 on my list.

George to bring down the mighty Lance would be a dream... :giljotiin

In light of George Hincapie's win... I felt like I should remind everyone of this little post... go George. 🙇

That was fun to watch Mr. H. win a stage after ten years. I was worried about the team after the scare the other day: a crash, no support for Lance, etc. I guess they are veterans and roll with the punches. Now they just have to finish off the Pyrennes right? Excilantro. Barring some major trauma/*cheating* I think that he should be allright.

Go Lance. :holiday:

Yeah, baby! I especially liked what Bruyneel [sp?] was hinting at after the stage win. Will George be the next Disco Boys leader? Now THAT would be cool. And deserved. But really, shouldn't he and his podium girl wife just ride off into the sunset and make lots of little next-generation Hincapies? He's gotta be close to retiring, too. But I would like to see another American in yellow on the podium in Paris. Like next year. And while I'd like it to be George, I wouldn't cry if it were Floyd, or Levi, or Dave Z, or Fred R, or even Bobby J. Just as long as no one's riding for Cofidis. :mad1:

Wow. They just got done repairing that trailer park after the last Hurricane Lance. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that. And the one before that. You'd think Ullrich would've started using better materials to build with, but no.

And how about Salvodelli? Lance is sure being generous this time out. I was amazed to hear today that he's only now tied with Hinault in terms of yellow jerseys won. And he'll never catch up to Merckx. The Cannibal has 111, and Lance (knock on wood) will finish this year with 83. Which is, of course, the difference between tactics (Lance) and sheer strength (Merckx). There were at least a couple of the years Merckx won that he also finished with the green and polka-dot jerseys. Which would be pretty much impossible today.
