Too much chocolate brought in by students attempting to bribe me hasn't helped either.

I've felt a couple. I think the first was in '95. Anyhow, I lived in Fernley, NV and was asleep. I heard what sounded like 3 lound bangs, in a row, then my bed moved like it was a wave. Strange. Freaked me out!

The other one was here in West Valley about 4 years ago. I was sitting in the living room, and again heard that loud banging sound.

Strange how I only heard it and didn't feel it that time. I'm not sure what the magnitude was on either of them.

I've felt several earthquakes. One was in Santiago, Chile. I was walking down the street and found that I was taking two steps forward and one step back. I stopped and then I felt how the earth was moving. It wasn't a big one. The other one I remember most was in Mexico City in 1985. That was an 8.1 if I remember right. We lived up in the hills and it was when I was catching the bus to school when it hit. Nothing fell down around us, the hills are more solid than downtown, but I remember everything swaying back and forth like it was a merry-go-round on crack.
The aftershocks were pretty bad too. I was in school when one hit and I could see downtown buildings collapse. That was really creepy.
Anyhow, if you are safe they can be a really fun ride. If things are falling around you it is quite the nightmare.

There were survivors that had major psychological 'survivor' issues after the quake. They suffered terribly until one day the medical staff took them in vans down past the ruins of the buildings they'd been pulled from. They got better right after that. The news talked about it but never said exactly why they thought they got better. Interesting huh?

Well, there's my interesting earthquake story.
