My psychic kitty is the only good earthquake story I have.

But here's a good Clash story......

It's September, 1997.

Mike Littman's teammate Jose Vasquez scores a hat trick in 10 minutes and the Galaxy beats the Clash 3-2.

Jose celebrates his second goal with the Galaxians, and gets me & my wife on to the 1998 Galaxy season ticket brochure.

So after the game, we are at the San Jose airport. The Southwest terminal, of course. You think MLS wants to pay to fly the players on American? I am looking for the bar and my wife is looking for Jorge Campos. (My wife/Jorge Campos = this board's women/DJ Countess & Nik Besagno)

Then from behind me, I hear, "We really appreciate you coming to the game".

It's Paul Caligiuri, the man who shot The Shot Heard Round The World; the first Yank Abroad and the man that put us into our first world cup in 40 years.

I didn't see him, but he recognized my Galaxian shirt.

He's a national hero. A man who, by rights, should not be able to travel in public without a division of Marines because of the adoring & grateful crowds that should be mobbing him.

And I didn't recognize him, but he recognized a goofball supporter.

Yet another story about how cool this country's soccer players are.
