I thought the first few scenes with Portman made her look horrible. Like they were trying to make her look older, but failed.

I think it's one of those things where Leia wanted to show off to her brother that she actually got to be with their mom when Luke didn't - you know, sibling rivlary and all that - even though she never really did. I think the actual script was something like this: Luke: "Did you ever know your mother?" Leia, sensing where the conversation is heading: "Uhhh, [pause] yeah, sure." Luke: "What was she like?" Leia: "She was really cool! Too bad you never got to meet her [snicker]." (I can't write the actual word because it blocks out part of it) Quote:
To quote SoccerMan: "Where have you been?" Quote:
I was disappointed that they didn't show him dying or some such thing. We can only guess at his final demise. I like to think that after Palpatine dissolved the senate, that he tracked down all of the Senators and killed each one - taking special care in the destruction of Jar Jar, using various methods and devices of torture, perhaps prolonging the process for several days while Jar Jar's screams of "Meesa Owieee!!!" echoed throughout the halls of the partially completed Death Star. :evil grin: Perhaps some author will write another installment of the penned Star Wars saga entitled "The death of Jar Jar" for all of us to enjoy. :D __________________

I just finished the book. It is very good and gave me the same depressing feeling the movie did. Good job Lucas, good job Stover.
Just one bit of trivia, according to the novel, Mace Windu was a padawan learner to Yoda. So both Dooku and Windu were Yoda's apprentices, Dooku taught Qui-jon and then Qui-Jon taught Kenobi. Round that out with Kenobi taught Anakin and both Yoda/Kenobi taught Luke....*breathe* man thats quite the genealogy of Jedi learning.

It was a continuity issue that I still have not seen addressed.

Obi-Wan's line was, "Was I any different when you taught me?"
I'm with you Obi-Wan never hinted at Qui-Gonn. But we do see Yoda training the "younglings" (was there a worse word in Ep II or III than that one, it was ALWAYS out of place) so if Obi-Wan was a "youngling" then he would/could have been trained by Yoda, without being trained by Yoda. __________________

I agree that Ben made it seem as though he was trained by Yoda in ESB. Ben told Luke that he needed to go to Dagobah, because there he will be trained by Yoda, who trained him.
But I also must say that in the RotS novel, Yoda makes it abundantly clear that he feels "all" of the Jedi are his. He trained many of the leading Jedi at the time of the RotS and is by far the oldest and wisest Jedi alive. Its almost like saying your grandparent "taught" you even though you had parents that raised you. IMHO

I like this passage out of the book:

Agreed. At first I didn't like Stover's use of these metaphoric introspections. But by the end of the novel, I liked them.
Kenobi had a good one right before he took on Grievous. Dooku had a good one too right before he made his last appearance.
