GREAT! I guess that means I need to find a good source for red crepe paper. Thanks for the info.

If that's true about the streamers, then we've got some streamin' to do!

It is absolutely true. During the first half when streamers made there way halfway into the pitch on the south side, I started to get worried. Then, as fuegote said (I was right there with him - nice abs, by the way) the security guy said there was absolutely no problem whatsoever with us throwing the streamers on the field after a goal. He almost encouraged it by saying that "streamers are good, everything else is bad."

Wal-Mart. I hate to support their evil empire, but you can get rolls for less than 50 cents. I was having trouble throwing mine last night, though. They wouldn't unroll like they were supposed to.
On Saturday, the 4th official looked upset when they landed on the pitch and had the team pull them off immediately. The same official worked last night's game, though, and had no problem with the streamers.

Here is a good photo from the game. Good job Trumpetman. (At least I'm pretty sure that it is Trumpetman and not one of the other Brothers Grimm.)

I'm one of those guys, we've been throwing them over the team bench onto the field ever since the San Jose game and no one has told us not to do it. They also know it is us that throws them. In fact when one of the steamers failed to unravel all the way, one of the trainers on the bench grabbed it and threw it right back up to us. I'd say that's a pretty clear indication that we're OK throwing streamers.

Please see this thread:

While we realize that throwing streamers is okay, we don't want to give dorks the impression that it's okay to throw other crap on the field, which is what has been happening on the northeast side. So, we are going to try to keep the streamers off the field.
That doesn't mean that we can't throw them at all! Throw them all night long, we're just trying to be careful. 😎

I've read that thread already. To be honest dorks wont see the difference between throwing things (streamers) on the field and throwing them in the stands.
Dorks after all are dorks and the fact that things are being thrown anywhere is going to be justification enough for them to continue to throw "other stuff" on the field. Bottom Line! I used to be a dork (punk, hard@$$) whatever else you want to call them so I know how they think.
It sounds like someone knows who these guys are that are throwing the "other materials" on the field so why don't we confront them and tell them streamers are cool but the stuff you're throwing isn't.

Ok I think it is now time to just say this... Not picking out any particular post... just venting a little bit.

We are not responsible for the dorks or dorks jr. (offspring of said dorks)

So here are my thoughts
We all go to the match for our enjoyment of the beautiful game and to support our team. So I think we should not stress on how all the dorks and said offspring of dorks might interpret our throwing of streamers whether it be in the stands or on the pitch!!!

If we all police the areas in our immediate vicinity and report to security, you know... the people that are actually paid to stress about what we are currently all stressing about! Tell security if we see anything!

We all know it is not coming from the Loyalist section... and I believe that the FO knows that as well...

So let us all take a deep breath and remember that we are there to see RSL kick some proverbial backside not to fret over how a few dorks might interpret our goal celebrations....

Throw the bloody streamers and report anyone throwing anything else....

simple really... when ya think about it!
