But the big question is.....

Does Besagno still look like Adric from Doctor Who?

You can't coach 6', 185.

How fast is he? It's probably hard to tell on a wet field.

He was definitely bigger than I expected him to be. He seemed pretty fast, but as you said, it's really hard to tell under those conditions.

I was impressed by Besango. His card was completely bogus. He was running one direction after the ball and a BYU guy was running the towards him. Besango got there first and won the ball. The two then collided. What happens when a guy 6'1" 185 meets a guy 5'9" 150? The smaller guy goes flying. There was nothing malicious. The BYU player was just slower to the ball. There was a group of us Loyalists (even though I'm still a wannabe - my dues are on the way though 😎 ) who cheered Nik and his first card for RSL. I think he'll be a good player. I was really surprised how solid he was. And he's only 16!

What happens is a "Big Man Foul."

Those of us who are big men are very familiar with this phenomenon.

My 15 year old son is Besagno's size, and he's learned all about the BMF the hard way.

Not fair, but that's the way it is.

Oh yes, the BMF... I am not as thick as "Big Nik"... but I recieved a few cards as a result of this.

However, I must admit that my only red was for telling a ref he was full of it when I had a BMF called against me (I didn't ge the yellow first either... he just went strait for the big red one). Playing as a holding mid or left back I had more than my fair share of BMF's go aginst me.

Dang little buggers that play forward... 😠

I know the feeling.

But nothing that a good slide tackle won't take care of . . .

In a high school game, I took out a ref with a slide tackle because he happened to be standing on the other side of the player I was tackling. I just slid right through that player into the ref. I got him pretty good. To his credit though, he jumped right back up and carried on with the game without really missing a beat.
