Is Cletus Lazy? Another thing I forgot. I've read Eric Wynalda's article on Clint Mathis, and to some extent agree. But Damnit, sometimes Cletus just looks as lazy as me the Sunday after a bender. The guy can be magic, and I agree that part of his appeal is his ummm....nonconformist attitude. But a player as good as him can do more to show himself more often.

I personally thought Mathis was running around working harder than most on Saturday. He definitely was the only RSLer working his tail off in the closing 5 minutes. Most of RSL was walking on the field.

The last 5 minutes is a little late to be showin up.
I dont want to be too hard on CLetus. I really do like him, but maybe I just hold him to a higher standard. A star player should never go absent for any time...(Im thinking Frank Lampard here).

Yes i agree sometimes Mathis seems like he is dozing around but if you look carefully any threatening play that RSL makes starts from his feet.
I also thought O'brien to be rather pitiful Btw what the news on Williams? Will he play?

Ellinger just said on 1280 that they're hoping to have Williams and Kamler in the lineup this week. Sounded like it's a pretty strong possibility.

That's sweet. Man, i'm excited for this weekend. I feel bad for non soccer fans, it's nice to have something to look forward to each week again.

Not sure if anyone else listened to Ellinger this morning and is able to report on it. I only caught the first 5 minutes or so.
Ellinger on the talent level of Carlos Ruiz: "He's good. If he doesn't make the Guatemalan national team, he's got a spot on the diving team for sure." He was up to date on the whole EJ deal, as well, and wasn't very thrilled with it. Took another shot at Ruiz, saying "great influence he's having on Johnson" Mentioned that either Akwari or Behncke will fill in for Pope this weekend, stating that Behncke is more of a natural center back anyway (and also the best golfer on the team, according to coach E). Said that they have sent the Pope red card tape to the league for review, but that all that they can realistically hope for is a reduction or removal of the associated fines. A red card has never been overturned by the league. Attack needs time to get clicking. Hoping for a breakout game this weekend. (Join the club) Stated that lack of speed on defense isn't as much of the problem as is missing assignments and making mistakes. that's about all I can remember. anyone else hear anything?
