❗

I think it is time to make up a survey; put in all the suggestions, have a link to the trophy site with the names of the preferred trophys, etc. and let everyone vote on them, then we will know where we stand.

Anyone know how to do a Survey?

In preparation, let me summarize the competition names, and the trophy suggestions.

Competition names:
Rocky Mtn Cup
King of the Mountains
Alpine Cup
Highlanders Cup
The Saints and Sinners Cup
hailstone cup

The Trophy Suggestions:
An old ski
scale replica gold mining cart
Ice Pick attached to a plack
Crown on a plack
real trophy from https://www.crownawards.com/StoreFront/IAFDispatcher?iafAction=getSubCategories&code=24
My favorites are:
Ageless Gold Cup Series 14 inch
Fire and Ice Trophy Cup 19 inch
Crystal Cup Series 15 inch
Wine Cooler 11 1/2 inch

They're a little expensive, but we have over 20 members, just $10 apiece is $200, We can do some kind of fund raiser to lower that number, and of course there's the Rapids contingent. If they foot half the bill, we're down to $5 apiece. Of course there is also engraving and other miscellanious expenses, but it's do-able.

There are placks listed at http://trophyman.com/trophies.php?category_ids

And there is this site: http://67.107.52.188/retail/Category.asp?catalog_name=RSOCatalog&category_name=WINNER%27S+CIRCLECAT057&Page=1&IName=BLOVINGCUPS

but those are REALLY expensive.

I think that completes the serious suggestions we have received. Would someone like to make up a survey, or two surveys, one for the name and one for the trophy?

You can use www.surveymonkey.com to do it online -- you can set it up for free and get 100 responses free per month.

And you can make it pretty colors, too.

The org group is planning to do exactly this in the next couple of weeks. We've already got webspace reserved (Greenie, who runs Rapidsfan.com, also runs his own web design company and has made room on one of his servers) and I'm hoping that we don't limit it to one site. If we can get other sites that soccer fans regularly visit (Like CyberSoccerNews, BigSoccer RSL/Rapids forums, etc.) to put up a vote we can get more people than just the Rapids/RSL BS fanbase and the fan base here involved. Expect to see things moving once the holiday weekend is over.

The question is, does the "management" choose a democratic style of choice-making, or an RSL-FO style? I.E., take a poll, decide nobody likes the name, and then choose it anyway? (I don't personally have a problem with that style--they're the business people, not us...)

Actually, I think the real question is how are we going to come up with the funds? The best trophies are in the $200 plus range. But hey, if someone wants to foot the bill, I guess they can make the choice. I wouldn't complain.

I could just setup a section for cup discussion and voting in the Supporters section so we can discuss this and have numerous votes. Anyone want me to do that? It'd take me all of 3 minutes to do.

Well, obviously we could all chip in a few bucks ourselves, but I was thinking some fund raiser things would be nice. We could talk to local soccer shops and see if they'll let us put donation jars on their counters, maybe even at Fanzz. At the next RSL event we could see if we can setup a table with information about the cup and get donations from people attending if they like the idea. Just a thought.

Why not see if a local soccer shop or local business will donate the cup?
in return for advertisement on the Loyalists site and forum.

But be sure they don't want to name the cup! Can't be dealing with the Wal-Mart Cup or the Zions Bank Cup.
That defeats the purpose!
:o Just thinking with my keyboard...

Clearly it is off to a good start.

I'd like to see if we could use this as a tool to attract more dues paying Loyalists.

I'll be working on a email message to send out to contacts in hopes of recruiting. I think I grasp the general tenor of things but please email or pm me (or post here) to make sure I include everything.

What parallels are there to include in the mailing? Beehive boot, the ax posted earlier, etc.

Isn't Beehive Boot taken by Utah-BYU?

I thought I heard that somewhere!
