Chant list from Loyalists.com I just got my first gander at the chant list. And I had some questions and maybe some recommendations.
Question 1: Tune: Glory, Glory Hallelujah GLORY, GLORY RSL GLORY, GLORY RSL GLORY, GLORY RSL REAL IS MARCHING ON I assume that when it says RSL that we actually say Real Salt Lake. Is that correct? It seems to happen in several of the chants, so I thought I, an uninitiated recently moved from California, had ought to check. Question 2: Kreis goal 92 goals in the back of the net 92 goals in the net Jason Kreis, you’re the best yet 92 goals in the back of the net To the tune of 99 bottles of beer? Question 3: tune:"Jesus Loves the Little Children". You have to say "Ellinger's" fast to fit it in. We're all part of Ellinger's Army. We're all out to win the league. And we'll really mess them up, When we win the bloomin' cup.* 'Cause Real is the greatest football team. Could we say something more hometown sounding than Bloomin'. I know soccer originally hails from england and all, but this is utah now. And utah has to be the world capitol for F word replacements. Could we say Frickin', Freakin'? I wouldn't even be above the more corny Fetchin' and Flippin', but bloomin' doesn't seem right for us. I don't know maybe I'm wrong. LDS folks, of which I believe there are a few of around here, would better recognize this tune by the name "In our lovely Deseret" Question 4: Tune: when the saints go marchin’ in Oh when Real, starts scorin’ goals, Oh when Real, starts scorin’ goals, I want to be in the Rice-Eccles, When Real starts scoring goals. Is there something we can say aside from "Starts Scorin' Goals" it makes it sound to me that they've never done it before and we're all really anxious for something like that to happen finally. Given the fact that the team has only one goal in their whole long illustrious history, maybe we should change that line a little. Question 5: Let’s Go Drum, drum, or clap, clap Drum, drum, drum clap, clap, clap Drum, drum, drum, drum clap, clap, clap, clap LET”S GO LET’S GO What if we said SALT LAKE instead of Let's go? I guess we could do it both ways. Question 6: Ole Ole This one wasn't on the list, but everyone at Iggy's sang it after Kreis scored his goal. It sounded like it went so: Ole Ole Ole Ole, blah blah...blah blah. I don't know if there is something that I just couldn't make out in that blah blah part, or if there's no words at all, but what if we (again) say SALT LAKE at that point instead of blah blah? Question 7: I noticed some of the chants from the chant thread on there, like that 'We Didn't Start the Fire' one. What about Jake's 'Sponge Bob' Chant. It might have too many words for peope to remember, but if we all have papers with song words on them, then maybe it could fly. Once on BigSoccer somebody from section 8 in chicago attributed their success to keeping their chants simple so that any yahoo could sing them. So maybe it shouldn't fly, I don't know. There were some other one's that were mentioned on that thread that weren't there as well. Not that we have to include them all however. Question 8: What about this chant? Very common and easily recognizable. Could be modified to fit any number of situations. Let's go Real Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Or modified to fit a player's name when they do good. Jason Kreis Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap or Kreamelmeyer Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap There's more chants I'd like to discuss I think, but I've been writing this post for too bloomin' long, so I must quit for now. Tell me your takes on my takes. Thanks everybody. Go Real

Another thing that we MUST adopt from South America is that when we are controlling the game with passing and just knocking the ball around from player to player, we need to bust out the OLE', so when a defender approaches and the pass is made, we shout OLE'. This can get soooooo frustrating to an opposing player....when 10,000 people are busting out with OLE' when you are scrambling for the ball.....

The Sponge Bob song rules!
-Whenever Jeff Cunningham has the ball, we have to chant, "Edson Buddle, Edson Buddle" -Joe Cannon is "French League Reject"

At the Blitzz games (in the olden days, you know) we used to sing that after every goal, with Utah on the end. Salt Lake works, or RE AL. Either way would be fine as long as we're all together. Anyone who had attended the Blitzz games would probably be expecting it. __________________

When an opposing player gets sent off
"Happy Trails" to the tune of "Happy Trails" maybe make it more RSL friendly Bom-ba-dee-da-bom-ba-dee-da Happy trails to you, Until we meet again, Happy trails to you, Keep smiling on til then Who ( oooh ) cares about the clouds when we're together Just ( aaah ) sing a song an' think bout sunny weather ...two...three Happy trails to you, Til we meet again

Most of the tunes are free transfers from the RAF of Utah Blitzz fame.
I think people will be able to pick up on stuff ok. Especially if they have a look at the lyrics.

Great idea. but that sixth verse slightly off. I had to look it up: Happy trails to you, until we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then. Who cares about the clouds when we're together? Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again. Anyway, I like the idea. __________________
