And that's just in English.

Don't forget about the soon-to-be-Tricampeon UNAM Pumas on Univision/Galavision/Telefutura!

Be careful, I heard some soccer team in Salt Lake starts play on April 2, so don't crowd your soccer viewing too much (if thats possible for some of you, I am jealous).

Wow. Anyone else remember when all you could get was the "Soccer Made in Germany" highlights show at 3:00 a.m.?

We've come a long way. A VERY long way.

Who can forget the great Toby Charles? Now, there is a real commentator. I can’t stand the commentators that feel a need to fill every millisecond of silence, telling us what is plainly obvious.

Toby was confident enough that the action on the field would speak for itself and occasionally, he would interject with:

“Schumacher.”

…pause

“Metzelder.”

…pause

“Hitzelsperger.”

Those were the good ol' days.

There are very few American soccer commentators that I can stomach (least of all people like Rob Stone, who sounds like he is still in high school and Alan Hopkins, who yells at the top of his lungs at every play on the pitch).

I much prefer the English commentators who don’t limit their intelligent commentary to the action on the pitch.

Right. Exactly. American commentators are still too influenced by baseball guys, who talk because there's nothing actually going on most of the time in baseball.

I can't think of a truly great U.S. play-by-play announcer. Not one. Well, maybe Bob Ley, who used to do a good job on World Cup telecasts, but that's about it.

My favorite commentator bar none is a former Scottish footballer, Andy Gray ...

However, a study found that John Motson had the most ideal voice for sports commentating.

Since the MWC has created a channel that no one can watch (and everyone seems to think it's Dave's fault because he owns/owned CSTV) the mtn... I have done my part in trying to get the station.

(for those who don't know, all MWC football/basketball games are going to be played on mtn. the mtn is only shown on comcast so if you don't have comcast you're screwed. I don't want to switch dish, i love the sports packages).

what I did was call up and demand mtn. when they told me the usuall info, i said, "what keeps me as a directv customer?"

Why am I telling you this here? Well, i now have the sports package (12.00/month) for free for six months so i added Setanta sports (11.99/month) to my package.

My tivo is set for today's and tomorrow's champions league action baby! Good times. I have that and ESPN2, i'll get most of the games this year.

Damn you soccer for becoming the only thing I watch on TV anymore.

Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.
