I'm only going to comment on the good things, anything that was bad I'm going to blame on the weather.

DJ Countess has skills. He stops two shots from point blank range to save the day. Without him we wouldn't have the point that we do.

The team seemed to work well together considering the conditions. They were able to string some passes together and we controlled the ball for most of the second half.

Well, I will comment on one bad point. Since we did control the ball most of the second half and we had the wind to our backs we should have gotten off more quality shots and came away with a win. It seemed we got alittle sloppy with shots in the last 15 minutes. (But hey, keep in mind this was only our first game. We can't expect Manchester United quality. Yet anyway.)

Finally, I thought the announcers on Channel 5 did a very good job. They weren't fountains of information but they didn't say stupid things. I'd rather have less "good" talk than more "fill dead air space" talk.

Oh, I also liked some moments of brilliant foot work. Mathis had a nice backheel pass to almost set up a shot on goal. And someone also in the first half had some cheeky footwork to set up a crossing pass. Can't remember who it was but I'll go back to my game tape and look it up.

Dipsy did a nice little dance around some defenders in the second half, and Rojas had a nice posession in the first, followed by a good cross.

I was not impressed by Akwari or Behncke. Both looked either tentative or lost most of the time.

Yeah, they had pretty bad games. Behncke's lack of speed was exposed several times. Although, he DID look pretty comfortable on a run he had in the first half. And I heard somewhere that he has a wicked shot.

I'm scared that we're going to get beat by some quicker attackers, especially on busted offsides trap plays.

Instead of announcing the opening-night attendance in the press box, the MetroStars media relations department announced that the tickets distributed was 12,657. Only about 1,000 fans weren't scared away by the weather and actually showed up.

I think I only ever saw 10 or 20 fans the entire game (on the front row). Everyone else must have been hiding in the concourses

Behncke looks like Harpo Marx without the 'fro.

I thought RSL did a good job of holding off the Metros in the first half, and RSL started out the second half very dangerously. But Cup I saw the second half different than you did because I thought RSL had a hard time keeping the ball, I was very worried about the lack of possession.

Of course the weather was ridiculous. But I'm not disappointed with the road point.

Hi guys, glad you got together and saw the game. I had a "meeting" to attend so I watched the tape delayed version (taped delayed by wife). Unfortunately Direct Kick showed the MSG version. How was the KSL version?
I thought too that the weather made the game a weird experience.
DJ definitely was the MOTM and he came up big. Mathis and Kreis showed some brilliance they just have to finish the job.
Expect better from them in beautiful Southern California sunshine. 🙂

Was there more than 500 ppl in Giants Stadium? 🙁

I liked the KSL coverage. I thought they did a nice, classy job, including Tom Kirkland on the sidelines. There were no split-screen commercials or anything, just a lot of "this portion of the match sponsored by..." which is MUCH better in my opinion.

Also, Talkin' Sports on channel 2 lead with RSL coverage, and so did KSL's Sportsbeat on Saturday, but ABC 4's Hot Ticket lead with Final 4 coverage. Also, tonight on Sportsbeat Sunday (On KSL 5)the guest will be DJ Countess.

oh yeah, I guess I should have said that. These sports shows all start at 10:30, right after the local news.
