RSL @ MetroStars [R] April 2 Okay, let's get the ball rolling! First game of the year for both teams of course, so they will both probably be playing hard. There should be a big crowd.
This game is very important to both teams: RSL needs positive results in these first two games on the road to add to the buzz for our home opener. Metro need a win because otherwise their fans will say "here we go again, another disappointing season," and they won't come out to support the team. I think RSL is the better team. __________________

For sure there will be a nice crowd, and yes, we are the better team, I think. Or at least we will be by the end of the year. Hopefully the team gels quickly.
On a somewhat related note, does anyone want to do any kind of prediction type game this season? Get points for a correct result, points for predicting exact score, that kind of thing? Or maybe rep instead of points, like the Jazz prediction deal which Czar has been seriously slacking off on? (j/k) And where's everyone watching this game from? I'll watch from home if I have to, but I'd rather watch with all you guys, since I love you so much. Is that place in UC reliable enough to be able to count on them showing the game?

Fine, but I say we tar and feather anyone who picks against RSL on these boards. 🙂

I would agree with you Czar, we do have the better total package. I think our guns up top will keep the young Zach Wells (only played 2 pro games) busy in the nets, as Walker is out with a shoulder injury.
I am always nervous to play Eddie Gaven. That kid get through a lot of solid defenses, and can create space for guys like Wolyniec to get open. Or Gaven can bury it himself. With more than a week to go before kickoff I currently feel that this game will have a lot of goals.

😎 What station is televising it? And where do we meet? I'm up for Bleechers if they get it, but I was a little bummed out on that last one. You want to look into it, Jake?

Could you imagine the energy in the stadium if "Checketts' Old Boys" made their triumphant entry with a 2-0 record on April 16? Not only would it be the home opener, but it would be like coming home from a battle victorious! I'm already pulling my hair out!

Metrostars released their broadcast schedules (for those that are Direct Kick geeks).
http://metrostars.mlsnet.com/MLS/schedule/season.jsp?team=met Looks like we'll get it on Direct Kick thru MSG channel (Madison Square Garden channel, local NY area sports network). FYI the following week, Apr. 9th against the Galaxy @ LA will be on Direct Kick thru FSN West. Plan accordingly!

Isn't KSL going to be carrying the games (not on national tv) locally? Or is Direct Kick considered "national tv"?

KSL is supposed to carry RSL games locally to the Utah market. It is assumed that Direct Kick will pick them up and broadcast them nationally.
Can anyone help me find the press release where it states KSL will carry the RSL games? Is it both home and away games they will carry? I think when most ppl say nationally they mean ABC/ESPN, Fox Soccer and maybe Telemundo and GolTV.

Don't shoot me, but I'd honestly be happy with a draw away from home for our first match!
Predicting anything in MLS is pretty difficult anyway, imo... especially when the Metrostars are involved. I suspect certain individuals on the RSL roster may have extra motivation for this match, though. You would think KSL would have announced the TV thing by now... getting a little close to the season now.
