RSL vs FCD 2007 Season Opener! And, here we are, today. The season opens against FC Dallas. FC Dallas is arguably not the same quality as last year and RSL is arguably of better quality. Our boys have also made clear that an important goal for this season is to open the campaign with a win. I worry about making a goal like that, because if it fails to come to fruition the team may be devastated psychologically.
But, it is out there, so they'd better show up. Maybe they know they need that kind of pressure and it will be a powerful motivator. If we assume that is the case, I see a 3-1 victory for RSL on goals from Klein, Balouchey and Cunningham. Unfortunately, we won't be able to get to the match early. DW works until about 2:30 today. So, we'll see y'all in the stadium. Sing Loud! Sing Proud! Bring the boys to victory!

A win for the season opener, on tv, would be a great pr boost.

Next season opener they need to pass out RSL bricks so that if they don't win we can throw them at the team. In my gut i knew that was going to happen, because that is the way RSL plays. What was going on with those subs? Each time a person came off the bench I groaned. I can't find the link, but there was one English coach who let fans in after a lost game to give it to the team. I'm ready.

I enjoyed the game thoroughly - except for the last 2 or so minutes. I hate that feeling when you are excited about how the team has looked but leave with an empty pit in your stomach.
Haven't criticized Ellinger much, but the Tejada sub was bonehead! When I saw that Cunningham was playing at outside mid, I almost crapped bricks. Why not keep cunny up top and put in brown on the outside? Or even Andy? If you want to keep possesion, why not put in guys that are used to each other as opposed to a new guy that has been with the team only a few weeks while putting another who is a great scorer but not the best at passing in the midfield on the outside?

I knew too... I was sitting there so freakin anxious, just watching the stoppage time go higher and higher, just waiting for it to stop before disaster struck. With RSL you can't feel good about being ahead until the whistle blows and the game is over. I still love our guys though. Good game, but really disappointing to be so close to a win and have it taken away in the last SECONDS...

Yeah, Brown would have been a good sub. He was on fire in the preseason. I wish Ellinger would play him in his natural position in regular games though. That is my main complaint with coach, the "experiment with people out of their natural position."
I felt Adu was looking good. He had some fancy foot work and controlled the ball well. Most of the back line was solid, but nothing fancy. Bisagno continues to be a dream unfulfilled. He hasn't proved anything to me yet. Certainly not a first pick. I wish we still had Novack. He was a workhorse. Midfield was pretty ho hum. Medhi was looking good. He has good vision and control. I think he and Adu could be a major force to deal with. And Cunningham continues to deliver. I hate the longball, but last night I think we could have won if we would have played more of them, even if they aren't pretty or fun to watch. __________________

well we could of won if we just kept playing in my opinion ... we got to about 75-80 minutes thoughts, they won't score now, we don't need to try and keep scoring so lets just sit back. And inevitably the growing pressurce from dallas got them a goal
