Doug Wright annouces RSL 'done in Utah' Duece has a blog that I suggest you read, but Doug Wright annouced this morning that he had just spoke with DC and that the deal in Utah is dead. Mayor Corrupt .. sorry ... Caroon, same thing ... has said no and that the deal will not be going forward, DC says he is burned out, tired and exhausted. He feels he has tried everything according to Doug Wright and the stadium is not going to happen, the team will be sold and most likely moved and that's that. It seems Mayor Anderson asked if the Fair Park idea could be re-thought and DC said he is simply done.
Now I know that there is a lot to discuss in that alone but I am more interested in making a 'statement' to the Democrat Party of Utah who killed the half billion dollar investment, who killed the team and are forcing it to move out of state despite having one of the top 3 crowds in the nation in number and according to every player I've ever spoke to from any team - the best fans in the league. The Democrats have succeeded in looking Real Madrid in the eye and telling them to piss off 'we don't want you coming to Utah to play or help our youth development programme, and screw the money a 40,000 strong crowd brings in', I think they deserve some kind of a response. So here is my question: What statement, if any, are we going to make to Mayor Corrupt and his Democrat party of Utah who have pissed on this team and deal from as greater height as possible as often as they could - with the notable exception of Mayor Anderson (and yes of course I know he too is a Democrat, but I wouldn't call him a run of the mill Utah Democrat)? As fans what is our response? I know I don't post on here much anymore, but I still read and I am first and foremost a fan of Real Salt Lake, I'd like to let them know how I feel as a fan, taxpayer, employer of the council and Mayor Corrupt. Perhaps we need to decide a few things: 1. To whom would we be making the statement? Public, Press, the Democrat Party of Utah, The County Council, The Mayor, or everyone? 2. Does the blame lie squarely at the feet of Mayor Corrupt or am I right to be mad at the Democrat Party of Utah as well? 3. Do we go through the motions of a petition of no confidence in Mayor Corrupt? 4. Do we do all the traditional things like sit ins at the council meetings and highlight 2 or 3 really strong points for the public and press? I guess bottom line is I don't know, I just feel frustration and a willingness to make my feelings known. Any suggestions welcome. One way or another I will be expressing my feelings to the powers that ruined my day. Last edited by Scholesy : 01-29-2007 at 09:57 AM.

Suck My White Ass Mayor Corrupt! Any chance RSL will consider a move to the UC? Probably not. I say it's time to take a page out of Ghandi's book and be passive aggresive. How about a large sit in of 10,000 RSL fans on Mayor Butt-Face's front lawn?

Scholes, I don't know if there is anything we can do at this point. People have been active the whole time trying to get support. I guess all we can do is show that we aren't happy. Rocky has been talking about trying to get RSL back downtown. I hope that he can get it done.

It isn't the fault of the party. Joe Hatch and Randy Horiuchi are both democrats and two of the biggest supporters of the deal.

I think we need to wait a couple of days to stage anything of significance. I'm pretty much convinced this is done, but a miracle could still happen between now and Friday.
For the sake of safety, I hope Corroon doesn't go to any of Real's games this year. If some miracle were to occur, I doubt he would ever be welcome at another Real game - or at least not for a very long time. __________________

If we see Mr. Caroon at an RSL game this year, we need to start a chant. Maybe something like this...
To the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" You're not welcome here, Caroon. Here Caroon, Here Caroon. You're not welcome here, Caroon. Now GO HOME Caroon!!! Or, something more simple: GO HOME CAROON!!! GO HOME CAROON!!! GO HOME CAROON!!! GO HOME CAROON!!! __________________

I think Peter Corroon is a muppet but this is not all his doing.
If I see him I will be pleasant to him. I can be pleasant to ANYONE for 5 minutes. If he shows up at a game then good on him. He has the courage to match his conviction. Threatening his safety is not exactly going to achieve anything except prove right all of the folks that claim soccer fans are thugs and hooligans. Breathe in... breathe out... it helps. 🙂

I suggest the same treatment for any member of the Debt Review Committee, County Council, or any other elected official that helped RSL's "impressive" stadium PR campaign end up here.
