I just wanted to add my two cents that most of these names would repeat names of other current competitions. The only unique one, if I recll, is "King of the Mountains"... just in case that matters to anybody.

It certainly does matter--but we're way beyond that now.

You're right, of course, but it's tough to come up with a truly unique name, especially when you haven't played a game yet.

The Brimstone Cup was a stroke of genius, and was a natural extention of a very heated playoff series (legs broken, fights) mixed with the whole Burn/Fire thing. They actually had to announce that they weren't going to change the name just because Dallas threw out the "Burn" in favor of "FC Dallas." Tradition is tradition.

Anybody know what The Atlantic Cup is? Just a couple of you, right? It's the club endorsed trophy competition between Metro and DCU. Too bad the clubs came up with it, and nobody cares. So much for manufacturing a rivalry.

Since we don't have any tradition (RSL because we haven't played a game, and the CRapids because their only tradition is mediocrity), we're going for the obvious mountain/highlands choices and hoping things develop from there. I think it will work, because no one in MLS considers Colorado to be their rival. Might as well be us.
