What would be really helpful is if they would announce the "get together" on the jumbotron at the game Wed. That way everyone in the stadium will know...not just the computer ppl. Flyers passed out at the gate, maybe??

I believe Stucki and Glenn were talking about maybe doing something at the stadium instead of going to channel two, that does cost less money might I add, I don't believe the university line is part of the free-fare zone. Regardless, those details will all be worked out soon and I hope that everyone sticks around and shows their POSSITIVE energy.

I will make and post a flyer that people can get copies of and pass out. I probably wont get it done until this evening, but I will post and email link where people can email me to get the Word Doc file.

Hey, can you use your insider contacts with those guys and let them know that we need to know if they want us to throw our support behind something else ASAP.

Because, once the word starts to spread, it is hard to change details.

Thanks

Practical points:

1. The first RSL game thing where people went to stand outside the TV station... it was dark and you were not really visible on camera.

2. At that time of night, you won't get passersby who are really being impacted.

3. At that time of night, you won't get a lot of press coverage because they only have 30 minutes (35?) to cover the entire day's events. You probably won't be on the list.

So who are you staging this rally for? For yourselves? I'm not trying to be pessimistic, merely trying to point out practical issues to consider while you're throwing energy into something. Something in the morning or middle of the day woudl be visible and might get covered on the longer format tv programs.

edit: If you go with the "stay positive" approach, Coach Ellinger will be coach of RSL forever. Nothign will ever change. Go read Voltaire's Candide. If you are realistic, you can confront and solve problems.

The upbeat spin on all three points...

1. You are more visible than if aren't there.

2. Passers by aren't the target. Publicity is.

3. This is a huge local issue right now. After spending 2 years as a producer at a TV station I can tell you that even if it is only a 15 second reader this will make the news if they know about it.

Now to answer the questions... I am doing it because doing something makes me feel better than doing nothing. There is absolutly no reason that this cant be done at a different time. But, until someone else offers to take the lead on doing something at a time when more people can make it i am going to do this.

If it were done mid-day or morning it would be great for the people who don't work or have flexible work schedules, but not so much for those who don't.

I am not trying to get this in a package on the news. But, it will get some notice and perhaps inspire Rod Decker, Chris Vanoucur and the likes to do a follow up about the fans the following day or two... then again it might not.

But as the thread title suggests this is a show of unity rally, not a "lets be media whores" rally.

I know Stucki is going to talk to people at fiddler's elbow tonight. I'm sure details will come, just be patient.

If you did something between 12-1 on a weekday, people could take a lunch break to join you. And you'd actually be visible. And you'd probably have people passing by to hand stuff out to if you wanted. Not that you shouldn't do something next Wednesday night--just might want to also consider doing something else as well because I doubt you'll get a LOT of publicity at that time of night.
