I understand you're frustrated, and you have a right to be. But turning on those people who still want to help until the bitter end is bull****. If you're no longer a fan, fine, I can deal with that. But do me a favor and stay the hell out of my way. It's funny that some people are questioning Dave's committment to Utah when you're showing the same lack of committment you accuse him of.
I think this just became the most rep worthy post I have seen so far!

Jon Huntsman seems to be at every RSL photo op and Checketts hasn't talked to him or to any state legislators about introducing a bill to change the law?

If we only had still had rep on this board you would certainly get it from me.

With all the obstacles the team faces (tough media, uninformed public opinion, LHM, government officials looking out for their own interests, etc.), if anyone needs to stand behind them right now it is the minority of the community who wants the team to have a stadium. Yes, the front office used poor judgement in lobbying various government officials without trying to educate the general public and made other mistakes, but we still need to get behind the team. If this team leaves we better get used to (at best) cheering for an USL/PDL team playing on a high school field, or playing on the crappy field turf at RES in front of about 3000 fans and 42000 empty seats. Worst case is fans have to drive to Provo or Ogden to take in a match.

Criticize the team for having poor judgement if you wish, but please try to show some support because they need it right now more than ever. If you want to bash the team into the ground or call for boycotts, go over to non-soccer boards (there are plenty of them) where you will be in good company.

If you don't want to read it then don't.

If people venting on a RSL forum are somehow getting in your way then you have bigger problems than no soccer.

Little Davey Checkett's has made such a hash of this that I must either assume he never wanted it to work or he is completely incompetent. Either way I don't much care what he does with his team. At least the new owner would fire Ellinger.

Good for you. Since you don't care I guess you won't be posting on this site any more, being that it's a site for RSL fans and whatnot.

This morning I was thinking about that old cheer "I'm Salt Lake 'Til I Die"......I think some of you need to start a new one (if you're still planning on going to games, that is): "I'm Salt Lake 'Til One Month Before They Die".

I agree IBIK, if Dave is losing his most loyal fans on this, it may indeed be the end of the world for RSL. 🙁

See there is the problem...
Dave is not losing his most loyal fans...
Yes he is losing fans but the ones that are bailing out this early in the game are not loyal fans... they are just pissed off normal fans.

Do we have to go over this AGAIN? Silly rabbit, taxes are for projects that benefit the public, not for politicians!

As if you know the whole situation to make assumptions like that. You don't, I don't, IBIK doesn't, Jose doesn't. None of us do. Therefore, why don't we give them the benefit of the doubt here? Could they still be incompetent? Yes, but it's not very likely considering the success and experience Checketts has had with just about everything. Is it possible that he was just trying to screw with Utah here, and was willing to lose millions of dollars in the process just to do it? Yes, but it's not very likely.

Come on people! Why don't you help us right this thing, or go down with the ship trying, instead of pointing fingers as to who was at fault in putting us in this predicament in the first place. That doesn't help anybody at this point. If we lose the team, then we can engage in that exercise ad naseum.

I'm sure Dave will be working feverishly starting next week to get something done before August 12th.

<nose snort>
we're supporters who support the team but also have a critical voice when warranted.
