If RSL doesn't act quickly, NYRB are going to snatch up The Bruce...

Wow. Just wow.

Don't they have one more point than us with one less game played?

To be honest, I would take him over Ellinger.

I think that deal might already be done. There is no way any European team would ever take Arena now.

There was no realistic chance any credible European team would take him at any time, there is just too much choice there to go for him.

Why would any European team go for a coach that seems to have as many personality quirks as many spoiled star players!?

Arena said as late as yesterday, that he had an offer from an English side after 2002 but didn't take it. He said that that job isn't available but he feels that there are others that he could take.

And I don't think Johnston is going to get a job as a head manager anywhere. Not for awhile anyway.

Did anyone bother to tell Arena not to take his offer from Harchester United too seriously?

So he had an offer from an English team...if it was for anyone better than S****horpe United I would be shocked.

Look at the big 3 coaches in the prem. Is there any other way to describe them? I don't think that short of getting the US into the semi-finals or something would really get any overseas teams into taking Arena seriously. He's a Yank and they still just don't know the game. Sure, we know it's not that simple but when you have teams like Middlesbrough taking on Southgate (no coaching experience; decent but not great player; still lacking his coaching licenses) with the other choices out there, I have a hard time seeing any teams short of Southend United taking a look at BA.

Again, I don't know why some folks here like Mo so much. He wasn't able to execute at NY with a team that while it faced some problems has plenty of talent. I don't see any reason to believe he'd do a better job than Ellinger. That issue aside, it looks like RSL sticking by Ellinger is going to lead them to missing out Bruce Arena, Frank Yallop, and Sigi Schmid. All coaches that clearly know how to win the MLS. Some would also put Bradley in there. And seeing what he's done with Chivas this year, he may not be a clear MLS winner but he's looking to be a better choice than Ellinger. I hope Ellinger turns out to be a great coach. BUt as it stands now, he's pulled off 8 wins from 46 games.
