RSL Merchandise and Marketing info

On Nov. 9th approximately 20 members of Real Salt Lake’s first official supporter’s club, the Loyalists, met with Trey Fitz-Gerald, the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for RSL. He discussed upcoming events and decisions about the team and answered Loyalists’ questions for about 45 minutes. Here is a summary of what he discussed. For the complete article, please go to www.TheLoyalists.com where the article will be available soon.

It is unlikely, according to Fitz-Gerald, that jerseys will be available in time for the Christmas season. He will be meeting with Adidas in the coming week to get things rolling in that area. Jerseys will probably be available in late February. More window clings and merchandise should be available soon. New designs are also on their way.

Response from the local soccer and sports merchandise stores has been very positive, so fans can expect to see RSL merchandise available most places locally. If you know of anywhere locally that should be carrying RSL merchandise and isn’t, contact the front office to let them know.

Season tickets are selling very well so far. They are already approaching the levels that some established MLS teams currently have. Since this has happened with no advertising and simply a logo and name to sell the team, the front office expects these sales to continue to grow as time progresses. Season ticket sales should get a boost from holiday offers, fans who see how the expansion draft turns out, etc. The goal is to have about 6,000 season ticket holders for the 2005 season.

Fans can also watch for other marketing to start soon. Besides the holiday ticket packages, there will be TV, radio and print advertisements visible in the near future. The real marketing campaign can be expected to start sometime in January.

It's exciting that they are selling lots of season tickets. I still need to buy mine. I really think that if they can get the community behind the team, RSL will be one of if not the best supported team in MLS. Sounds unlikely but many would tell you that the Utah Jazz are the best supported team in the NBA, so I don't think it's too far-fetched.

This is good news about the merchandising.
I am retiring, to the back of my closet, all of my DC United gear and making room for all of the RSL gear that is going to be taking its place
I have had my RSL gear on backorder since the team name was announced. Well, to be honest, the logo shirts and hats have arrived but I am still waiting for the scarves. unfortunately the logo shirts were white, I had hoped they would be more like the picture on the site, I can't wait to get some in other than white!

I have my season tickets reserved and I am patiently awaiting the jersey.

Any news on an RSL Logo ball and/or mini ball? those balls are great for autographs...
;-)

Deuce, if you happen to be in Salt Lake anytime soon, (plug for family friend's business coming up) Soccer International on 39th and Highland has a couple of different red T-shirts.

They even have a long-sleeve one if you want to go totally crazy...

Went to Soccer International today and it was like being in a candy store!
It is much nicer to actually handle the merchandise rather just see a picture of it.

Got both my eyes on one of those long sleeve t-shirts! Payday it will be mine!!!

Got that long sleeve red shirt on Friday! I wore it all weekend. my son was so jealous... I gave him the white one... hehe! (the one without the Jason Kreis autograph of course... I would give him the autographed one if he would appreciate it!)

on a different note!!!
I am having trouble getting him excited about RSL. I have a season ticket reserved for him but am seriously doubting whether I should waste the cash on two of them. Maybe buy mine and when he can be bothered to go... buy a single...

Any suggestions?
