RSL vs. NE Revs [R] 6/24/06

RSL gets its first chance to see Taylor Twellman and Co. this saturday. RSL will have to find a way to close him down as well as his other teammates who have been hot in front of goal:

Andy Dorman
Shalrie Joseph
Steve Ralston

Jose Cancela and Andy Dorman are tied for assists with 4 a piece.

The Revs have 14 goals for and 14 against vs. RSL's 16 goals for and 19 goals against.

Can Mehdi feed Cunny and Atiba? Can Klein and Kreis get into the action?

Just heard that Coach E. won't be coaching the match this weekend. He has been fined $1000 and suspended for one game for the comments he made about the referee in the match versus Houston.

Maybe we'll have a chance of winning since the Reserve coach will be in charge...

Don't count on it. We'll have 2 or 3 clear penalty calls denied and at least 1 goal called back unfairly, and we aren't good enough to play against 14 players.

Who cares? I still won't be over the US losses, so I don't think I can stomach watching RSL right now...

Oh well, I'll watch anyway.

Are we addicts to some kind of drug with rather deleterious effects or something? Are we gluttons for punishment? I really hate the last few professional soccer experiences I have had as a fan. It always starts out fun, but ends up like a bad trip. The sick thing is I can't seem to give it up.

Oh well. I may listen to the game on the radio on Saturday. It's my first wedding anniversary, and although my wife loves soccer (she's seen more world cup than I have. I think having our newborn at home is the perfect excuse), we've got other plans.

I have to admit, being a supporter of and watching RSL over the last year and half has tempered me a bit to handle a USMNT crisis.

I guess that's my vain attempt to see things as a glass half full.

Revs are a great team, and RSL is going to have a real tough, tough time.

Always look on the bright side of life *whistle, whistle, whistle, whistle*

New England has certainly looked impressive at times (remember their win over the Galaxy?) and Taylor Twellman is going to want to create some video for Coach Goppingen to review.

But 95 degree heat, 4500 feet of elevation and Field Turf are not what the Revolution are in to.

I assume the concept of a win over the Galaxy being "impressive" is supposed to be a joke.. right? :dancing:
