Of all the snapshots World Cup visitors will pack away and take home, some no doubt will jump off the pages of their memory albums, for better or worse.

Italian coach Marcello Lippi, holding aloft a trophy he somehow managed to help a troubled, scandal-ridden team win.

Juergen Klinsmann, hopping along the sideline, the picture of a new kind of Germany and a new kind of German soccer.

Wayne Rooney throwing a tantrum, kicking an opponent in the groin and tossing away a great chance for England to win its second World Cup.

Argentina and Brazil, when they were at their brilliant best. Ecuadoreans advancing, always remembering the strife of their homeland.

Ghana putting on a show of power and skill. Italy striking twice in the final moments to shock the hosts.

And of course, Zinedine Zidane's ejection and having to walk past the World Cup trophy on his way out of the match.
