A glossary

I think that there should be a page with soccer terms and definitions along with abbreviations and their meanings. Especially those. They are used a lot and some newbies to the site might not understand what they mean, especially if they are also new to soccer and hopefully we'll get a lot of those.

Some examples:

sss = soccer specific stadium
hdc = Home Depot Center where Chivas and Galaxy play
Cletus = Clint Mathis
etc.

I thought it was The Slack-Jawed Yokel?

I'm a really bad offender at this & I should stop. But above all, to thine own self be true, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Victoria Street = Home Depot Center = The Galaxy's & CDCUSA's home stadium in Carson, California.

The Calypso Boys, The Soca Warriors = Trinidad & Tobago's national team, for which Marlon Rojas plays.

Goats Lite, Goats 2.0 = Chivas USA.

The Smurfquakes = San Jose Earthquakes

Club America de Houston/San Antonio = San Jose Earthquakes

El Tri = Mexican national team

Ticos = Costa Ricans (Pablo Brenes' national team)

Atletico Los Angeles/1860 Los Angeles/Tecos Los Angeles/Los Angeles City/Espanol Los Angeles = The Galaxy

I've seen it spelled both ways. Is one more official than the other one? 😕

Possibly from the character from "Dukes of Hazzard" if I remember correctly. He was a southern hayseed type of guy.

Don't forget:

CRAPIDS - that team on the other side of the mountains with worse snow...
METROTARDS - top under-achievers
ADU-UNITED

It's really hard to come up with nicknames for the Galaxy and FC Dallas as both will probably suck and aren't worth the time... :D

Sure, you don't where Cletus in soccer, you where CLEATus.
However I think Mathis actually prefers Clint.

BTW I heard the fellows call Sergio Flores Surge. I like that. 🙂

What about the acronyms found in these posts and in Bigsoccer posts?
Like BTW = by the way.

I only know some of them. Thanks.

Of course there may be a few that I don't need to know about. 😲
