👍

Great wins for the preseason. Only 1 1/2 months till the opener in NY and 2 months till the home opener. I can't wait!!!!

I would think that Mr. James Edwards will cover the games in the DesNews tomorrow morning. Thanks to the DesNews to send Edwards out to Florida to cover our newest professional sports team in SLC. :D

GOReAL!!!!!!!!!! or is it GOALReAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉 🙂 😉

Encouraging

The two wins are very encouraging at a minimum. It's exciting to see Jason Kreis get going as well. I want to echo the comments about the DesNews sending James to cover RSL in Florida. Not only does he (James) get to go to a great climate, but we get firsthand coverage here in Salt Lake. I think its sad that not every media outlet here in Salt Lake has a rep down there to cover this historic time. Thanks for the reports!

It was a great game. Sorry I didn't have a laptop and we got in late, otherwise I would have posted here for you guys.
It was a real nice game (and University of Tampa has a nice small soccer stadium). DC United beat the U17A squad 3-2, and Nik Besagno played in it, so that was cool. Most of the crowd were either Adu-lovers (aka little girls and littler boys) or U17 family/fans.
DC United's reserve squad (plus Adu) played well and it was back-and-forth game.
Of course with Adu and the U17s gone the crowd thinned a bit.
I was able to watch the game with my family and some friends (including a RSL fan convert 🙂 ).
RSL played their entire line, and for the first time ever, Mr D Eddie Pope was in the back (Jason Kreis is Captain BTW and proved it tonight). I love Pope, we was very good.
Here was the lineup:
................Kreis-Mathis
...................Williams
............Brenes-Selolwane
....................Kamler
Bechnke-Dunseth-Pope-Akwari
.................Countess

Crew played a regular squad with a few reserves (I am sure in the Crew section of BS, they have more on that. I know Wingert, Elliott and Busch were in there). RSL played offense a lot with Crew getting some O occassionly. Pope and Akwari shined in the defense. Bechke plays hard but I am not sure if he is starting material (lingering injury?). Dipsy Selolwane (love that guy) played out of position as Midfielder, but he was good. Definetly has more jets than most Mids or Defenders. If there was a Con in any part of RSL's game it was Mathis. He seemed tired or something. He even handballed the ball in the early part of the 2nd half, picked up the ball and passed it to Kreis for a reception. Wrong game Clint...don't know what to make of it.
Jason Kreis, the man has his mojo on. I've watched him in the first few preseason matches wondering if he was over the hill. Hey I met the guy he is very nice but he is termed "old" in MLS. But against the Crew he shined. A assist from Mathis helped Kreis hit the back of the net early in the 1st half. Again Mathis almost scored and the ball did a ping-pong around various heads before Kreis headed the goal in. It was brilliant.
All and all it was a good game. Kremameyer, Watson, Nolly and Lovingland came in the second , but not too much happened in the 2nd half. I was impressed by Nolly, so that was good.
Any questions?

BTW I did thank Pastorino and Trey (and James himself) for letting James come along and writing his daily write-ups. I told James that you guys wait for his reports with baited breathe. :D

That is so true!!! I never expected such great coverage of the team while in Florida. It has been a great surprise and whoever came up with the idea I'm sure we would all like to give a big thanks to RSL SC and DesNews. Thanks James!!!!!!!!

GO ReAL SC!!!!!!!!!

BTW, is there another scrimmage in Florida or is it time to go to Portugal? Is James going to Portugal also? I don't think he would mind and us RSL SC fans would love to read it in the DesNews!!!! :D

Yes I believe RSL has two more matches in Florida.

Feb. 17: vs. Kansas City Wizards at 11 a.m.
Feb. 19: vs. U.S. Amateur Team at 10 a.m.
Then...
Feb. 24-March 9: Training Camp in Portugal
Three exhibition games scheduled TBD
March 14-27: Training Camp in Southern California (University of Redlands)
March 19: vs. Colorado Rapids in Las Vegas
Additional exhibition games scheduled TBD

Thanks, SoccerPrime! 🙂

Anyone know if Mr. Young Edwards is going along also? If he doesn't want to I would be more than happy to take his place even though my journalistic skills are non existent. Just thought I'd ask.

GOReAL!!!!!! 🙄
