Oakland A's Buy MLS Franchise in San Jose?

The Oakland A's ownership group's interest in returning a Major League Soccer team to San Jose might be realized. The A's and the MLS have scheduled a news conference today, presumably to discuss details of the deal, which has been in the works since the Oakland Athletics Investment Group announced its intention to purchase a MLS team in December. -- San Francisco Chronicle

It'd be nice to see a team back in the Bay Area. I hope this time they can get a stadium.

I notice this was in the Truth & Rumors section... MLSnet does not have any indication of a news conference... I'm not so sure I believe this one yet. Is there any other confirmation of this thang?

I'm pretty sure it'll be San Jose again. Your jersey won't likely be any more a collectors item than mine is.

There's supposedly a press conference at 1:30pm.

MLS heading back to the Bay Area?

""We're tremendously excited to reach an agreement with Lew Wolff and John Fisher and to bring a Major League Soccer team back to the Bay Area," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a prepared statement."
