The fact that you read that into my post shows that you need to give up reading my posts.

I wish it weren't so, but I don't see how the U.S. gets out of this group. Italy and the Czechs.

What? No demands?

But that's no the important thing here. What's important is that just as Ellinger is developing young tallent into a good team, the US does have a chance in the World Cup. At least, while Czech and Italy are favored to pass to the next stage, it doesn't take but one slip by either of those teams and the US could go through. I think we have a lot to be hopeful for. I couldn't imagine watching the WC with the expectation that my team was there for 3 games. I doubt that is how the real underdog teams feel. I would doubt T&T, Togo, Iran, and Angolo fans are so pessimistic as to expect that they are not going through. They might not have high expectations, but they are hopeful. US fans should be just as hopeful or more. In history how many underdogs have made the second rounds? I'd guess a lot. Heck most odds makers have all but 2 European teams (Angola and S&M) going through, and you and I should be able to agree that that's not going to happen.

Go ahead and be "realistic." I'm going to be optimistic when I watch the cup. It's alright with me if you don't think their going through; I hope you're wrong.
I hope I'm wrong too. Like I said, when I'm asked who will go through, I vote according to the probabilities.

BTW, since when is Angola a European nation?

My bad. I guess since they all moved to France.

I think that's the key. "Hope". For some of us, it's stronger than for others, apparently.

Not really. My hope may be as big as yours. But, that wasn't the question of this thread was it? It wasn't: Who do you hope goes through? It was: Who do you expect to go through? And based on the probabilities, I expect the Czech Republic and Italy to go through. That says nothing of the degree of my hope that the US goes through.

I disagree. My hope is so strong that I actually believe that the US will make it, despite the odds.

If you only believe, you can do anything!

You must not have watched Disney enough times in your lifetime yet. Try watching Disney channel with your kids for about a month and you'll have the same outlook on life that I do! 😁
