Wouldn't it make more sense to find out when the press conference is going to be and get a big crowd outside the press conference? The press will already be there and people might show up because of the "might-hear-some-news" angle.

Also: I've seen the press cover "marches" or "protests" that were under 10 people. If you make them aware that you're going to do it, you might get press.

I note about flash-mob tactics:
Don't try and sync your watches, too messy. We need one leader who, at the right moment, will clap three times (or some agreed upon, audible signal). Also, make any visual props (signs, banners, etc.) on bed sheets. They can be folded up tight and easily concealed until the right moment. Anything else would be suspicious and draw attention. Make your message simple and in large bold font. Hoodies are good to wear. They can conceal your visual prop. They do not draw attention when worn regularly, but can provide a concealed identity just before you jump in front of the cameras. Then scatter. If everyone takes off in a different direction, two security guards can only chase two people, if they give chase at all.
