*looks into crystal ball*

What'll end up happening is that Dave will trade his land (or the option on the land he has) to Larry for Franklin Covey Field, which he will tear down and build the Grand Real Stadium we all saw in the beginning. Larry will then use the Sandy property to build a new baseball stadium that can be expanded when he decides on bringing MLB to Utah. Unfortunately, in the next five years, oil prices hit $5 a gallon, no one buys enough cars from LHM to subsidize his sports franchises, the Bees go under, the Jazz are sold to Sports Capital Partners, and all Larry's left with are a string of dollar theaters and the newly-renamed All-You-Can-Eat Mayan Smorgasbord.

If I had to guess, Dolan's still running scared from the Great Gravel Pit Fiasco...

I think Checketts would have built downtown if he could. I don't think he can, thus the reason Sandy gained prominence.

Can he go it alone? AEG is doing something like that in Harrison, NJ but Checketts isn't AEG. He doesn't have that kind of money.

Well, if memory serves me, (and at my age this could be questionable) Dave was looking at a few different sites in Downtown. Block 22 came up because the city wanted an "anchor" for it's southern end. Dave went with it because he thought it was going to get approved easily because that is what the city wanted. Once that bastard Earl Holdings got wind of it he tripled the pricetag on that land.

The RDA still wanted to go through with it until Sen. Bramble got wind of it and sponsored the bill to put a hold on RDAs using their funds for sports complexes.

Step in Sandy and their proposal to help fund the stadium. RSL announces Sandy project.

Salt Lake County and their lead rat Mark Crockett start making a stink about not using the newly approved Tourism Tax for the stadium.

RSL cancels it's scheduled meeting today with the SL County Council.

And now it would appear we are back to square one.

Exactly. Now that RSL has potentially bitten the hand that feeds them, how could they now go back and go after the more expensive option?

A downtown stadium is the more expensive option. Check out land values.

Can someone please explain to me where everyone is getting the notion that RSL is arrogant, ****y, being pricks, biting hands that feed and generally snubbing their nose's at the County Council?

I am baffled... last week everyone wanted to tar and feather the council and the trib staffers...

the financial numbers are leaked and RSL gets justifiably upset...

Yet everyone seems to be on their knees ready to demand RSL beg forgiveness for being treated like crap from a bunch of grandstanding Larry Miller inspired ass-puppets!

Where did I miss that leap!?

That's what I am saying. If Sandy isn't going to work, how can going downtown be the solution? That will just exasperate the situation.

A downtown parcel half the size of Real City land in Sandy will cost 5 times the amount, easy.

I haven't said they need to go back to Block 22. Actually I'm with you there, I wouldn't give Holdings a nickle for Block 22. He has a beautiful parking lot there now, let him have it.

But I'm still intrigued by a comment made my Dean Howes just before they went with Sandy. He said there was a piece of property just west of the Gateway where the new commuter rail train station is going to be built. He said there was a piece of property there with a land owner ready to sell.

I would think land west of the Gateway is still cheap compared to Downtown itself.
