RSL vs. FC Dallas: What did you like?

And now, the counter thread 🙂

1. Team effort: it was about 10 times better
2. Cunningham: he'll have his goal next week, I think
3. 3-5-2: we didn't let in one goal once Brown left and we went to the 3-5-2. Maybe we should try a 3-4-1-2...without Williams... 🙂
4. Klein: played a much better game than last week, and even scored a nice goal
5. WE SCORED!!!
6. We competed against FC Dallas. That game should have ended up a tie, but I'll take a 2-1 loss with that much effort over a 3-0 loss that made us look like b-league trash.
7. Fun game: wasn't painful to watch. Yeah, the goals scored on us kind of sucked, but it wasn't excruciatingly difficult to watch that game.

All that being said, we still have a ways to go in order to even think about competing for 4th or better in our conference. We need to rely less on the refs (seeing as how they hate us), or in other words, when we get hacked down and there is no call, we need to get back up ASAP. No diving, no acting, nothing, just playing hard and getting back on our feet if we are not semi-seriously injured. I think we could break up a lot more plays like this. Also, if we earn the reputation as a team for being tough guys that take tough tackles and don't rely on the ref to stop play for us, if we don't dive, and if we stop throwing our hands up in the air (ANDY!) when we don't get a call, then I think we will start generating some karma for us. Good effort, let's get a nice, dominating win next week at home, boys! I'll be there cheering you on!

Chivas is a better team now, but they still suck: 2-0

1. We actually looked like we kind of cared out there! I can live with some mistakes, but acting like you don't care is UNWATCHABLE.

2. I was very skeptical about the Cutler/Sequeira midfield combination, but I thought it worked quite well. I know that some folks don't like Cutler, but I love the kid. He isn't flashy, but he works very hard and makes an acceptable number of mistakes for his experience level. I though that Sequeira did a good job getting forward at appropriate times. He wasn't as active in the offense as a true A mid, but it worked for me.

3. The intensity at the end was very nice. Dallas bunkered down and nearly paid the price.

I liked it when my dad said that Cutler looks like an albino trout...

seeing as how it's tough to get the wife to enjoy watching (she did cross-stitch the whole game), we both agreed that this was a very solid game for Real. it was good to see hustle and determination out there.

one thing that she did point out was that "the facial hair thing" was a bit creepy. personally, add a bit of hair to the chin and a moustache is fine, but those 80's throwback 'staches were a bit out there. anyone else with me on this one?

I loved it....Cutler's stach is even better looking in person (quick plug to the coach's show this thursday night). If we can get a hold of Garlick's wife i'm sure we can ween down the competition to three.....we need to talk to Mrs. Akwari as well.

I like Mehdi for the first 60.

I liked having 3 in the back.

I liked seeing Kreis get in a decent chunk of playing time.

I liked getting 2 defensive Dallas players with YCs early (too bad couldn't better take advantage of it).

I liked that Garlick had 5 saves.

I liked that there were 9 CKs.
