Red Bull Metrostars?

Red Bull might buy the mutts, which would almost certainly change their name to have Red Bull in it. If you are familiar with the Austrian situation and the "No to modern football"/"No al calcio moderno" movement.

article

This news is getting mixed reviews around other boards. Personally I am for new owners, but not for red bull coming in and re-inventing everything. I hope they don't change the name or colors.

The sad thing is, that would be an improvement for their name.

If nothing else, Red Bull rewrote the book on aggressive, innovative marketing.

Oh, and I'm told their product isn't half bad with a splash or two of vodka.

Diverse ownership in MLS = good!

That's the beauty of vodka, it's good with anything that it tastes good.

Seriously, a deep pocketed investor interested in any MLS club is a good thing.
Cool if it happens.
Notice that AEG would still retain stadium rights...

Ya, I've wondered what AEG's master plan is. Seems in the long run the league wants all investors down to one team. I figured it would be a toss up between LA and NY for which team AEG would go down to. Maybe they're looking at keeping LA in the long run.

Interesting how this kind of deal would help them stay in the picture in markets like NY without actually own the team.

Now that I've had some time to think of this, I don't like the move right now. This isn't an investor putting money in the league to earn a return on investment. This is a company putting money in the league as part of their marketing budget. What happens 3 years from now when the company has a new CEO and changes the direction of their marketing? How much money are they going to willing to put into the organization each year? Will they cut things like youth teams since now it's not about building a succesful club but about running a succesful markting team?
