If we turn back the clock 18 months we can replace the name Dynamo with Real... how quickly we go from league newbies to league snobs...

Carry on!

Very true. I think they've botched both names they've picked so far, but it's their name and they can go whatever direction they want. Even naming the team after some sort of electrical widget thing.

I will say that when I saw the "1836" announcement I thought that even though I didn't like it, at least they were being bold and trying to incorporate a form of traditional soccer name. This time, it was a LOL moment. I don't think that's what they're going for.

But I'm not their target audience so they don't have to be concerned about me.

For the record, I didn't like the Real Salt Lake name when it was announced either. And now I don't even think about it.

That's just sad.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I was actually looking at it this morning, thinking that if they don't change the name soon I am going to have to wear it for my spring cleaning next weekend.

Moscow, Russia

Why were they called Dynamo?
During the communist regimes of these nations, each team was controlled by the secret police, which made sure its club had the best players.

I think it's funny commentary on the state of things in Texas these days. They're more worried about offending mexican-americans and mexicans with the 1836 thing than with going with a pink-commie name. Did all the birchers die off already? :smartass:

The real question, where can I get one of the old 1836 practice kits?

I don't know==good question. Let me check around here and see if anything has been mentioned about these. Shoot at the rate this group is going they'll probably be wearing them for their first regular season game--<:O( If I hear anything on this, I'll be sure to post it here.
