BTW, here is the latest that Rumor-Starter Yergy posted over at BS:

Thanks for all the posts and speculation, regardless of outcome, just the idea of Casey and Cunningham gets me all excited for the season to start. Well here is more detail, not sure it helps. He was doing his rehab in Park City and the rehab center is definitely one for celebs. My buddies inquiry directly to Conor Casey was that he will be playing for RSL. He didn't say maybe or he was in talks, but that he really was. I've actually told my buddy to call me next time he comes in and I'm going to run up there and get my own answers. Maybe someone else will run into him here and gives us more information as well.

I'm not sure, but I'm reading from that sentence structure that Yergy's buddy will be playing for RSL?? j/k

Would be nice. Now I'm starting to get my hopes up.

OK, I'll bite...

If this is true, the front office gets huge props for putting together what is undoubtably the best front 2 tandem in MLS. Cunningham's speed and dribbling skill combined with CC's guile, size and finishing...wow.

If the team truly plans on playing Kreis as A-mid...I can see a line up somewhat like this:

-----------Cunningham--------CC
-----------------------------------------Williams (no d responsibility)

--------------------Kreis

Scarlett----------------------DS

(pick 4 defenders, right defender playing higher to handle other team's left mid)

----------------------Scotty Pepper / Schrek

Offensively, CC gives a large target, Cunny gives a speed threat, Williams showed last year he can beat players 1v1 outside all day long, and Kreis can sneak into poaching positions. With our back 6 playing very defensively but having options: playing wide to Williams, direct to CC, or over the top to Cunny, we should have a lot less problems getting out of the back than last year. We will bypass Kreis...he showed us last year that you cannot play the ball through him in the middle third of the field, but I salivate re how open he should be able to get at the top of the area with CC and Cunny drawing defenders.

There is no question that this hypothetical team would be extremely exciting to watch and would drive other MLS squads to distraction.

If this is all true, and we are getting CC, there is no way we win less than 10 games next year (depending on injuries of course)...

To our resident Ellinger bashers: even he couldn't screw up this lineup.

I'm sure we can still figure out some way to get Tarley into that starting eleven.

I'm reserving judgment on Tarley until we see him play without Mathis screaming at him every 30 seconds... :unsureani

I'm sorry.

Every time I hear Cunningham's name shortened to "Cunny", I start giggling.

I know, mind, gutter, and all, but I can't help it.

It took us a few weeks to get used to Pete Vagenas.

Ok...can this really be true? Has anyone heard even the slightest rumblings from the FO? Usually we hear something...

My money is on it being the latest Houston Republic, but I'm not going to complain about something that gives me a shred of hope during the cold, dark winter.

Don't worry. It worked pretty damn good last time Clint wasn't on the same team. Tarley 4 - Rapids 0.

🙂
