WORLD CUP---Who is going???? Ok, its almost time to buy tickets to the World Cup next summer. It seems kinda complicated as I am not sure I will even be able to go yet and you have to give a name, address and passport # for EVERY ticket. SIGH...my daughters passport is expired... So, Im just wondering who else is planning on going and what they are thinking about doing as far as tickets to which matches...etc. Considering we dont even know the brackets yet Im kinda confused, but want to be prepared also...for the 12th. So I want to hear your thoughts!

I'll be going for at least a few of the games, tickets are a pain in the neck the way FIFA has it set up, I'll be going through the English FA supporters club and using my media pass for a few, I would suggest finding out what the allocation is for US Soccer supporters is, joining that would be a good idea, they often have a cut off date for people to join and be eligible to buy tickets so join quick if that's how they are working it. Other than that I can't tell you how many times I have just turned up and bought tickets there, more money obviously but worth it to go - be careful though to go through a decent company not a tout, mostly they have forgeries.

I was hoping to go, since I'm here in Italy it would just be a hop, skip, and a jump away... but the tickets are really set up in a freaky way, and I'm not so sure I'm even going to attempt it. Plus it turns out that bumming around Europe costs money, so it might not even be fiscally feasible. All that said, I wouldn't be surprised if I found a way to get there.

I say within a few days of them going on sale to anybody, there will be a bunch of them available on eBay at ridiculous (...that is to say, fair market...) prices. Oh man, I wish I could be there.
I'll have to comfort myself with awesome watch parties.

My girlfriend just got a mission call to the Germany, Hamburg mission! I'm so jealous-she's going to be that close to all the action! (Hamburg is also HQ for USMNT)

The draw policy can seem wierd, but this will be my 4th World Cup and I have never had trouble getting into any match I wanted for a reasonable price. Remember, chances are decent that we will have matches against teams who don't travel well (Trinidad and Tobago anyone?) and tickets for some matches might be plentiful. By next year it is also possible that international events/politics are such that Americans (or others) aren't travelling internationally either.
Some of the RCB and friends from Section 8 and West Ham supporters are considering RVs, that way people who were going for a while and people who were only going for a couple of matches could coordinate, and it actually is quite economical. Another tip if you are going...give up on flying into Germany. Fly into Schipol or Brussels and take the train to Germany. My r/t flight was just over $300 this way.
