I'll tell you what. We really missed you. I, for one, don't remember the details well, and don't take notes well. You've probably noticed that the others have their "little" flaws, too. So, "Montgjules, we missed you"!

I was thinking on the back of the shirts it could say in really big letters
'ARE YOU LOYAL?' | |||||

I didn't get the impression that what was said in the meeting was some sort of secret. He never said we couldn't repeat it so here it goes... Steve said that Erik Scott wouldn't be coming back. He said they knew it was a possibility when they drafted him but he was good enough that they wanted to take that chance. He also said that there is a good chance that Brenes may not be coming back. Apparently Brenes thinks he can get more looks by his nats if he stays home. RSL is still discussing this with him so it's not set. He said that pretty much everyone else that was out of contract at had been re-signed between christmas and new years but it just hadn't been anounced. The big name player that has been mentioned was Eddie Pope. Apparently they had the opportunity to acquire him but after weighing the pros and cons of his large contract, decided against it. I would say there were between 15-20 people there last night.

Thanks Jason.
I was hoping both Costa Rican players would stay. Of course with RSL trading away all the YI picks, if both Scott and Brenes didn't sign, then we would still have 2 YI picks. (Senad is only other YI so far).

It sounded like at this point it was more of a problem of actually finding players to fill those international spots. It also sounded like Brenes was still a possibility. It was noted that RSL is substantially below the MLS salary cap. Probably more so than any other team. This would give them a lot of flexibility of acquiring players if they become available during midseason towards the end of the european transfer window. They would be able to pull the trigger on deals without having to worry about first clearing cap room which may be a big advantage.

True, but can we wait until midseason to sign those players?

I'm not sure. But Steve P. seemed really hip on the guys he has now. (I guess that's his job) I guess we'll have to wait and see. On another note, he mentioned that Besagno will not join the team until after he finishes high school this summer and will not be in camp with the team come March 1. He is expected to start on the reserve team. I didn't sound like Niko nor Watson will see any time outside the reserve team this year. I think they may try to move Watson to the wing as well. Specifics weren't given but it was mentioned that RSL is currently looking for one or two more internationals, especially someone to play D-Mid. It was also mentioned that Ellinger's style is not a "defensive" style as is apparently the popular rumor. I guess they plan on playing a more attacking style which should be easier with the the Mathis/Kreis/Williams trinity.

Eddie Pope would have been very cool, but it’s not a make-or-break situation that we didn’t get him. I can understand the large salary issue. I wonder if Eddie even would have taken to SLC as a city. A lot of his plans revolve around the east coast.
