From the SL Trib (which BTW quoted one of the Enger boys):

With the stadium site solidified, Checketts said it's time to improve the team's losing record.
(State Senator) Valentine agreed. At the podium, he grabbed a soccer ball and pleaded with the RSL players in the audience: "More shots on goal."

This was a nice little related side article on that
TV bidding war over RSL
Real Salt Lake's stadium is being designed to include studios for the College Sports Network's Mountain West TV, which will broadcast Mountain West Conference games. But the studio may not end up in Utah. Real spokesman Trey Fitz-Gerald said Utah is in a bidding war with Denver for the business.

If SportsWest moves to Sandy, that will bring like 150 jobs to the area.
Nice.

This was interesting:
Quote:
* Timing. RSL needed to be out of the University of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium before 2008 because playing there any longer would have threatened the stadium's tax-free bond status. "At the end of the day, I did not believe I could get this done downtown in the way that I wanted to in time," Checketts said.

I didn't know that. Makes the Sandy choice seem more relevant.
