It's more like 30, though...that's the thing.

I wondered why there was so much traffic in Dallas this morning. It's because of the Houston evacuees.

Check this out...specifically the I-45 cameras.

Rita is currently a Cat 5 but will probably hit the Texas coast (near Galvaston) at about a Cat 3 or 4 on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Since Houston is 130 miles from Galvaston area, they are (currently) predicting that Rita will be a Cat 1 by that time (we hope so).

Sorry, living in Florida requires you to become a weatherman.
Man I hope its a Cat 1 by the time it hits Houston. That city is 5 times the size of New Orleans...
We are bigger but one thing we have going for us is Houston isn't a "fish bowl" like New Orleans and New Orleans is well below sea level. This may help us, who knows. They say once it hits landfall it will drop to a Cat 1--let's hope so.

Ooops I meant 30 miles not 130 Bordy. Thanks.

Evacuate?
I think the biggest fear now in Houston is that they will get caught on the interstate stuck in traffic when the hurricane hits!

Looks like I'll be safe here, just a bunch of rain which we really need. Of course, this is my weekend off...

Thoughts and prayers to those caught in the path. I'll take an Oklahoma tornado over a hurricane any day.

Houston's #1 RSL fan accounted for. What a rough night, but I know not as rough as those in the path of Rita. For all of you who may have family and friends that were in the path of this storm (and Katrina), my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

GO RSL!!!!!

Great to hear SokkerNut.
It could have been a lot worse. Thank goodness it wasn't.

Thanks--you are right, it could have been a lot worse. I'm so thankful people headed the warnings and stayed safe.
