"When I think of Italy, I think of AC Milan. When I think of Spain, I think of Real Madrid. When I think of England, I think of Manchester United."

Then I proceeded to tell him that when I think of MLS I think of Real Salt Lake and then told him I was joking and that in truth, DC United is probably the team most people would associate with soccer in the U.S.A. I don't know if that's a fair assessment or not. I do hope that one day RSL and MLS will become synonymous like EPL and Man U. I'm interested to see what other people's opinions are.

Out of curiosity, which French team does he support? I'm trying to think of what his or my answer would be to which team people think of when they think of Ligue 1.

I agree. There are no MLS teams in New York. Must be the Pele factor.

But yes, I am sure most ppl think of DC United and maybe LA Gals next.
But for me, its the Tampa Bay Mutiny. After that its the Rowdies!
🙂

Yeah, I thought that was interesting too, although I think that there may have been an element of naming a big city like New York since any decent city in Europe would have a team, so i suspect someone followed that logic. I didn't give them options, I just said name an MLS team.
