Hopefully, I will be getting Ticket To Ride Europe for my birthday coming up. That is, if the wife has taken all the hints I've given her!

There is a good online version for free on their website. There is also a LAN version that you can download and play in a lab or at home. It's fun. I even designed a Utah board for the game. I haven't played on it yet though. :D

In fact, I'll put a plug in for Game Crossing, the game shop where I first played it, located on 5300 South just off Redwood Road in Taylorsville. You can go in there with a small group, and the guy will sit you down, teach you the rules, and let you play any number of games. His hope is, if you play and like it, you'll buy it. Cool store. Check it out!

I got my expansion for Puerto Rico at Game Crossing and was impressed. Now that I'm in Salt Lake Valley I'll have to stop by there more often.

What is the Ticket to Ride web site?

I too am a boardgame geek.

I like that web site a lot too. Any questions about any rules and someone there will answer it. Sometimes even the designers.

I have War of the Ring and that game is chock full of exceptions to rules so I visit the site a lot.

Anyhow, Ticket to Ride is now on my watch list. =) We should try out the Utah map sometime. I bet it is awesome.

Ticket to Ride is the website. I'll have to play a few trial rounds on my board before I release it. 🙂 But there are other "expansion" boards that people have created for different countries and cities. Pretty cool. I like it when a game has room for some creativity and home-made expansion.

Yes, I agree. I think expansion/creativity make a game longer lasting and more worthwhile. That's one of the reasons I've liked Settlers of Catan for so long. Every time you play it is a different board, and when you invent crazy 'teleportation' and 'penny' rules (montgjules!) it keeps it fun.

I'm going to spend some hours on that Ticket to Ride web site I think. 😉

JasonMa, does your group do any home-made expanding? ie. maps, rules, or such?

We've got a few house rules for games, but most of our home made stuff comes from one guy who's actively trying to break in as a board game designer. He just sent one of his designs out for blind playtesting before submitting it to the board game companies. If you see a game called Everest about teams trying to climb Everest come out in a few years, well, I know the designer. 🕺

I drive by there all the time and never new this place existed. That is pretty cool that it is pretty close to my house. I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for the info.

I picked up Ticket to Ride Europe from Game Crossing tonight! Woo hoo! Maybe I'll print my homemade Utah gameboard and try it out too. Then if it's any good, maybe I'll share it.
