Tarley's Coming to RSL! Dear Melvin Tarley,
I'm sorry if I ever said that I think you're first touch was lacking and that was why you weren't in the MLS. This year you showed us up with a brace and, better (I guess), with 4 goals against the Rapids. You played a great match against KC last night and were unlucky to not get at least a goal. YOu should've had an assist off the goal that Menyongar scored but that went down as an OG. Finally, pace and strength and height all in one package to play up top that can keep up (or out run?) Scarlett and that will be able to latch onto balls from Williams and Mathis. The boy's young and would have a couple more caps for Liberia if Liberia had money for plane fair (ya, they're that broke). http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/5577958.html • The Thunder has loaned forward Melvin Tarley to Real Salt Lake of Major League, Lagos said. Tarley, who has scored six goals in U.S. Open Cup games this year, can be recalled by the Thunder at any time. Lagos said Tarley would be recalled for the Thunder's next Open Cup game.

This is excellent news for RSL.
I think Tarley will be an asset for the club. Here is his bio: http://www.mnthunder.com/bios/melvin_tarley.shtml ![]() Last edited by SoccerPrime : 08-25-2005 at 07:04 AM.

PRK166 beat me to this little rumour. It is a rumour still but from a reliable source. With semantics aside, the deal is not finalized and could still fall thru..
That said he will be great on the attack. He scored the game winner + 1 against us is the Open Cup match and a hat-trick a week later in the 4th round.

This would be a very interesting pick up for the team. He has proven that he can play and score against MLS level defenses. If they did sign him, would we have to cut someone?

I don't know what the roster situation is.
And, as others have mentioned, seems an odd situation because why would FIFA allow him to move back and forth between 2 teams in the same country during the same season. That is, he's registered with the MN THunder, would then be loaned to RSL but back to the THunder for the LA game and then back to RSL? 😕

so right now he is on loan but they are working on making him "not" on loan? We desperately need some more speed. Cila is great, but i don;t know how many of you noticed in the san jose game and all the games before, the guy is slow, and gets outrun all the time.

Don't know anything about the details, although I was told by a Thunder F.O. staffmember that
"Tonight is Tarley's last game. He's going to Real. But we get him for the Open Cup." (This on Wednesday night vs. KC) As I said on BigSoccer, I wish Melvin the best and I hope that he does well at RSL, but I have my doubts. He's certainly got the speed and skills, but he needs to improve his work-rate. If his touch improves at the same rate as it has done the last couple of years, he'll be banging them in no problem. I'm a bit worried about the Thunder front-line though! With Melvin gone, we've only got two forwards left!

I don't know, Ruiz's lack of work rate has not effected his skill level or production.
And Tarley certainly seems far more active than the Lazy Fish. :D

So, is Tarley the guy that Ellinger referred as "one of [the] better players at this stage of the season" or is that person's identity still to be revealed?
