Olympics 2012/Football/England

I am sure many of you know that London got the summer games for 2012 yesterday.

One of my friends from England was all excited and asking me if I would go with him to London (in 7 years, like I'll still be alive!).

It got me thinking, many of posters here are from England or have lived there (Deuce being the main one that comes to mind).

Are you guys planning any trips over there for 2012?

USMNT better make it that time!
🙂

And on the morning they should be celebrating, they're attacked by terrorists.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of our UK friends.

"It's important, however, that those engaged in terrorism realize that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world." – Tony Blair

I'm totally thinking of going and crashing on one of my friends' couches or something. Tickets are supposedly going to be no higher than 55 GBP.

Tennis at the All-England Club, gymnastics (provided the FIG hasn't killed it deader than dead by 2012) at the Millennium Dome, good times...

Today's events certainly suck beyond all belief, but having worked at the 2002 Games here, I can say that I'd feel a lot safer being at the Olympics than anywhere else on the planet during those two weeks.

The truly scary thing is that british intelligence had no warnings. They have one of the best intelligence services in the world.

Back to the olympics and soccer...
I hope Argentina beats their pink English butts red! That's right, in front of the whole world, in their own country! Aguante Argentina!

The attack was also 'aimed' at ordinary working-class citzens. 🙁. It's awful.

Only one problem--neither the UK nor England enter Olympic soccer competition, since the FA's of England, Scotland, Wales, and NI are separate but there's only one Olympic team for all of them.

They're looking at making an exception now that they're going to host. We'll see.

They're called LAS MALVINAS! Well, I went to Argentina on my mission. Argentina was my first soccer love. It's sentimental for me.
