USMNT striking?

According to many media sources, the friendlies against Sweden and South Korea have been cancelled for January 2005.
In fact, if the USSF doesn't get a new contract with the USMNT players soon, Arena is going to have to use "scabs" or non-capped US players to play the US's first 2nd round WCQ against Trinidad in Feburary.

Scary.

That would really suck. We're not the NHL here, we need to sort this out.

I just don't see this as ending well.

Maybe I'm biased after getting my back plastered with Nachos at USSF-organized events. But the USSF does not have very professional management.

And players, even those making MLS salaries; which are paltry by world soccer and US pro sports standards; do make enough money so that trips to Mazatenango, the Azteca & the Saprissa are things they can pass up & still make their car payments.

Well, at least we won't have to worry about losing Clint Mathis or Kasey Keller (?) for qualifiers.

Is Fito Ovalle cap-tied to Chile? Is Jorge Estrada a US citizen yet? What's up with Guti's citizenship?

We Blitzz fans may end up seeing Jacobi Goodfellow, Byron Carmichael, Matt Evans et al playing for the USA.............

We thought that the USMNT goalkeeper might be from Real. We just thought it would be Kasey Keller and not Chad Sackett.

More in depth coverage of the dispute!
More details and speculation.

I can't figure out who is wrong and who is right, everyone has a different story. It seems like the players are right, but I can't be sure!

Anyway, this is ridiculous. If our qualifying gets compromised because of money, I will be very very annoyed with US Soccer. If that's the case, count me as an Italia supporter for Germany '06.

Anyone else feel like jumping ship if these idiots can't get this settled?
