MOTM for 05/22 LA Galaxy Thought I'd start a thread for this.
I have a feeling most have already made their choice. Jamie Watson anyone? I am actually torn between Watson and Williams. They both played excellent matches. I am almost leaning towards Williams because of the marked turnaround he showed from previous games. He had several shots (most of which were on frame) and he was all over the field. He played some amazing defence often getting back quickly and he even played well on Donovan (that play he made in the second half to pick Donovan's pocket and then spin around him to keep possession was amazing). Many have constantly criticized his play on these boards, rightfully so, so now I think he needs some props for playing a HELL of a game.

My vote is for Williams. Probably just a sentimental vote b/c I have always kind of liked Williams and was hoping he would start playing up to his potential. I give him a B+ for last night. His hustle was there and he created a few good chances. I still loved how he ran down Landon from behind and clinically removed the ball from ol' Lannycakes possession. Very nice work. Jamie did well, but I think that Williams played a bit more complete game.

Today's Tribune made the case for Andy Williams. He's my vote.

Andy Williams played a great game yesterday, I hope that he keeps it up.

Good cases for both Watson and Williams.
I voted for Watson because he was the difference on the field (from previous lineups) and obviously was able to finish. I didn't see the game (I heard it on 1280) and I'm sure that affects my perception. But for the single act of putting the ball in the back of the net, Jamie Watson gets my vote.

Andy Williams had an amazing match... I sincerely hope that this was his "break out of that funk" match.
I hope he continues to play to the standard he proved last night he is capable of. His play to date has not been erased in mind. Andy Williams will have to show me a little more work ethic before he is worthy of my vote for MotM Andy Williams was only one of the two players that contributed to last nights match being, in my eyes, the most exciting RSL match so far. The other player was Jamie Watson. His consistency is why I have chosen him over Andy Williams for MotM.

MOTM June 22, 2005 – LA
Real Salt Lake ended a 556-minute scoring drought on June 22nd versus the Los Angeles Galaxy with a goal by Jamie “Sparky” Watson. The goal secured Jamie his third Man of the Match honors for the season. “I think Watson has earned himself a starting job,” said Roger Douglass. “I'll go with Watson, that boy has got some wheels!” Laura Layton remarked, “This is a tough one, but Jamie gets my vote. Jamie ended the dreaded curse; that’s got to be recognized.” Andy Williams, who set up the Watson goal, was a close second in this match’s MOTM voting. Williams has been criticized earlier in the season for looking lethargic on the pitch, but the fans were singing a different tune after this game. “Andy Williams really showed us what he is capable of,” said Scott Black. “He worked hard all night long and created several great scoring chances with great runs and passes. And who can forget that great pass to Jamie to help end the streak. Andy played wonderfully and deserves to be recognized for it.” Scott Stucki said, “The game was all about Andy Williams. He assisted on the goal with a great pass and was all over the field.” “I'm torn between Watson and Williams,” commented Eric Wright. “True, Watson did score the goal to end the scoreless streak, but Williams played his heart out as well, came up with the assist for the goal, and definitely showed the most marked improvement of anyone to this point.”
