What do you think?

Czar Jake:
I am totally into getting some flags. Do you have any pics? Last season I think I was the only fanatico at the BYU games. (BTW, I also almost got kicked out of a couple of games for using a megaphone.) I borrowed the HUGE “Y” flag that the cheerleaders use at the pointy ball games. I would love to have a huge one for RSL (as well as others of various sizes). Do you have any pics of the ones you refer to?
Also, I really like the idea of the long streamers that are shown in a pic that was posted. A giant flag (like the LA Galaxy’s Ruiz jersey) would be cool, along with those long streamers.

Also, on another note. I’m still not really clear on why we are branding the supporters club rather than the team itself. When I watch European football, the scarves have the team logo. That seems to make more sense to me than trying to brand our supporters club. Personally, I would prefer a RSL scarf (and other paraphernalia) because it’s the team that I support. The supporters club is a means to an end. I like McKids’ last version of the scarf:

BTW, this is the list that I usually check off of fanatico items before leaving for the matches:

Mask (soccer ball)
Stadium horn
Jersey
Flag
Drum, mallets
Soccer songs
Megaphone (until they prohibited it)
Jester hat
Whistle (they also outlawed this)
Toilet paper
Confetti
Binoculars
A recording of Andres Cantor screaming GGGOOOOAAALLL (that I used to play through the megaphone)
Airhorn

I would love to add some huge flags, small flags, medium flags, etc. and anything else to this list.

I like both RSL scarves and Loyalist scarves. If you get season tickets, they come with a RSL scarf, so maybe that's why we were focusing on Loyalists scarves. But I agree with you, let's work on both kinds and then people can pick which one they want. Yeah McKid's designs were great!

About the flags. I don't have any pictures yet, maybe I can get some soon. I'll post some pictures of them in the coming days and then we can figure out the rest.

But if you need some monetary support for a larger one I am sure we can come to an agreement!
:D

Now then... Coloured paper, smoke, flags... everything... lets have it all...

too bad about flares... oh well

Like I said in the above post, I'll post a picture or two of the ones I made so you can see them.

But I do think we should work on a giant flag, and start planning the rest of the stuff... what about balloons, that's one I hadn't thought about.

I love it. This is exactly the kind of planning I did before the start of last year’s BYU season. But, my passion failed to ignite any other fans’ support and I kind of petered out by mid-season as the sole supporter. People enjoyed my enthusiasm, but it gets exhausting when you are the only one yelling and singing from start to end of the match. I am thrilled to be back in the thick of it again but this time with like-minded fans.
I look forward to the drafts of the flags.
Smoke bombs will be cool. Anything to simulate Europe’s anarchical stadium environment.

Amen! The supporters group is a means to an end. We all love the Loyalists because we're so involved with it, but our goal is to market the team itself, so let's do it! If we had a distinctive RSL scarf that was only available through the Loyalists, this would also be very cool. Then other fans would say, "Hey where did you get that? Where can I get one?"

Very good point. For that matter, they might say that about our T-Shirts, as well. Or our hats (if we decide to go with those).

Good point Jules. Those ones McKid designed would be great, I think. Did we ever figure out if we can use their official logos on our stuff?

I've been looking at balloon prices, and they are quite high. For example, 3000 small latex balloons would run us about $130 at the sites I could find. If anyone knows a better way we could get ahold of some, maybe we could think about it. But I like other stuff (paper, flags, banners, etc) better than balloons anyway. What do you think?
