I agre with some of the previous posters regarding our need for Ellinger. Like Aero said, he is so familiar with the youth that he has a leg up on most other coaches. And Kreis, Mathis, et. al. may not be producing, but they are (hopefully) providing an example on how to lead a team. One of these young guys is going to have to step up in the future.

I just am impatient, that's all.

If I had rep to hadn out to Deuce and Aero for their posts above, I would do it. But there have been a lot of rep-worthy posts today and yesterday.

I'll just say I'm very supportive of the team, even if I don't predict them winning every game the rest of the season. I'm not a fair-weather fan and I'm a big fan of Cletus and I am glad that we have Ellinger as the coach of our team.

Those who say that you have to think positive and assume your team is always going to win and you're not a real fan if you predict a loss... well... they don't post as often anymore. 😉 (ha ha.. just trying to wake you up. You know who you are.)

I think it is way premature to be talking about firing Coach E.
It is only a 4 game losing streak.
It is an expansion team.
And Coach E is doing well. He is willing to make changes and experiment which is more than you can say about some coaches in soccer around the world.

I think Coach E will be here for several seasons... you can't build a family if you keep changing the dad!
You guys are misreading my post. I’m not calling for Ellinger’s head. In fact, I hope it never happens. It just worries me that Rongen got the ax so quickly. I hope that the fan base does not dwindle or there will be more worry. I don’t know how aggressive the league is on building the fan base. I just think that expansion team coaches should have some time to build a team.

The good new is that FC Dallas has a great record and they have less attendance than we do. Certainly not the coach’s fault.

Also, I predict a RSL win this weekend, 2-1.

Chivas' fan base, or, more accurately, the fans that Chivas wish would go to their games; is used to the Latin American Coach Of The Month club system.

We are used to Jerry Sloan coaching since the Reagan administration.

Mexico had (the last time I checked) a strange system. Their teams were not allowed to sign new players, even from other Mexican clubs, after the season started. So if a club had bad results, their only option was to fire the coach.

Then there's the Mexican Soccer Fan Mass Alzheimer's to deal with. It's 1985. It's always going to be 1985. US soccer players are college students, amateurs or converted indoor soccer players. Mexican league players are superior in every way to US players. Guys who can't catch on with a Mexican second division team can just walk on the field and beat the best US players.
