On the bright side, my education did translate into a promotion at my present job.

I'm Robb. I thought that they treated me fine, but soon after I left I know that there were serious issues. The pay was lousy, $525 a quarter. With all the time I spent preparing for the lectures, grading tests and homework, etc. it came to around $6.00/hr. I did it for the experience and for how it looks on a resume, more than anything else.

What was up with the gun incident? Yikes.

And congrats on the promotion. Hopefully it's enough to pay the student loans. I'm still working on mine! 🙁

Hey Robb,

Apparently one of the CIS students wasn't happy with a grade he got and told some students that he was going to go postal. The students got scared and notified the administration. The administration notified the police. The next day the student showed up and so did the police. They searched his car and found a bunch of guns. I had already graduated at this point, but my wife was attending. She was actually sick that night, so it was a good thing. They locked down the school and things have been pretty tight security wise ever since. I guess that's what happens when the only prerequisite to get into the school is if you can fog up a mirror.

I shouldn't put MWC down so much. I think I got a good education there. But you get out of it what you put into it, I think. I tried to go the extra mile and learn extra stuff on my own. I don't think the teachers there (other than you and Nathan) really encouraged that.

My main reasons for attending MWC were they helped me with financial aid (every state school is a pain in the butt when it comes to financial aid), they are less than a mile from my house, and the hours we flexible with my work schedule. I had been attending UVSC but my wife was at Mtn West and told me about their CIS program. I looked into it and realized I could graduate a lot faster. Luckily I met Nathan there and he got me this great job. So, if for nothing else, I got a great job out of it.
