RSL Karma
I have two RSL experiences that happened today:
The first one: I was listening to Matt Thomas on 700 AM and his question was, "Name a dumb rule in sports that you would like to change?" He gave an example of the DH rule in baseball. I got thinking; the offsides rule in soccer is pretty dumb. (Yes, I know it's there to keep a forward from camping out near the goal). So I called and said, "I think RSL really got hosed on offsides calls last Saturday and I think the offsides rule is pretty stupid. Another thing about it is, people complain that there aren't enough goals in soccer and if they were to eliminate this rule we'd see a lot more goals."
So, anyway, when I was done with the call I had to go talk to my car insurance guy (Yes, I'm still dealing with this garbage.) I was in there about 30 minutes and I come back out to the car, turn on the radio and everyone is talking about how to increase the scoring in soccer. The question was about dumb rules that needed changing and somehow I got everyone talking about scoring in soccer instead. It was kind of nice to hear some soccer talk on the radio for a change.
The next experience: So, I stopped at Maverick on 3200 W. and 2100 S. to get some Gatorade and I'm wearing my white away RSL jersey. The lady at the counter asks me if I play for RSL. Okay, some of you might be thinking yeah, so? Well, the thing is I'm 6'3", 335 lbs. I'm built like a freaking NFL linebacker, not like a soccer player. I thought it was hilarious that she thought I play with RSL. If she had seen what I was driving she would have probably thought twice. Anyway, I couldn't fool her so I told her that I'm a season ticket holder. But that kind of made my day. I should have said, "Yes, maybe you've heard of me, my name is Eddie Pope." That would have worked until she saw the name on my debit card.
