Sticking to the Subject This was touched on in another thread, so I wanted to send out a request for those who didn't read the other thread. (What about the people who don't read this one...?)
With all the increased traffic on this site, it makes it more and more difficult for people who actually want to talk about SOCCER to do so. On behalf of those who don't care about reputation, where to live or what the weather's like, please keep those discussions in the "Off Topic" area and don't let them creep into the other threads. (Oh, and if you want to have a conversation with somebody, try PM or that phone thingee because some people don't want to read a page-long conversation consisting, "Yeah," "Oh you're right" and "Do you really think so?" :p) I personally enjoy talking about all that stuff, but I know some people have become irritated by it. Let's keep the off topic stuff clearly off topic, and the on-topic stuff (you know, Real Salt Something-or-Other) free of distractions.

And now, my response (before other people say it first):
Chill out. This forum is fun and you don't have to be uptight about it. It's not like it's as bad as The Other *cough Big Soccer cough* forum. People are allowed freedom of speech and if you don't like it, you don't have to read it. Oh and there's nothing wrong with talking to people in threads. It's the PEOPLE we come here for because any of us can just read a newspaper report. What we want is the human perspective. Are you saying I can't carry on a conversation here? That kind of destroys the whole point. Chill out, Jules.

What if I want to talk soccer here too? Is the Off-Topic forum only for non-soccer talk? Would soccer talk be off-topic in the Off-Topic forum? Is it even possible to be off-topic in the Off-Topic forum? :D

I am NOT saying you can't have a conversation with people. It's obviously all about the people here. I'm just saying that people who want to talk about the latest match don't want to have their thread interrupted by 20 posts about the decor at Iggy's. (No, never seen that, so I figured it wouldn't offend anybody...)
See, notice how I put this thread in the "Off Topic" area so people who don't care about this kind of thing don't have to read it? Admit you were wrong.

And it is actually kind of funny that you put a post about staying on-topic in the Off-Topic forum in the first place. Talk about confusing people. Quote:

Well, I think it's a good idea to get a message out there without being too serious about it. We all know where THAT can lead... 😉

I agree that when the thread starts it should fall with in the scope of the topic area.
However while everyone should endeavor to keep from "hijacking" threads, every effort should be made to stay on topic. I also believe that a conversation should follow its own course, take on a life of its own and not be dictated by the subject. That is 'my opinion' Thoughts?

Eight posts in nine minutes.... excilantro work team.
By the way... if anyone is to blame for the infamous 'rep-begging' thread... its me. 😕 I resurrected it as a joke on May 10th, a day of infamy (apparently) and it has never looked back. #14 05-10-2005, 02:03 PM #13 01-08-2005, 01:55 PM PS... I probably just officially hijacked this Aero-Montgjules (Stucki and Deuce) conversation. Don't drive angry! Last edited by Scilaci : 06-14-2005 at 10:29 AM.
