Deuce, yes, things should take on a life of their own. People just need to respect the fact that most people who post here can only read a fraction of what's written because of the volume, so if we can keep things at least somewhat relevant to the subject, those who aren't as pathetic as us every-two-minutes-posters will really appreciate it.

One of the gym boards I frequent has a chat room separate from the board itself.

Whenever people want to just chit-chat, someone posts a "TALK CITY CHAT NOW!!!" thread and off they go. It seems to do pretty well at keeping the "hey, how are you?" type stuff off the board...
