MLS Commissioner Don Garber issues statement on San Antonio bid for MLS team

Looks like San Antonio is not going to get a team in 2006.

Hmmmm! Pretty harsh wording. San Antonio must have really pissed off 'the Don'!

It sounds like something the Utah Legislature would pull.

That was a smackdown, plain and simple. Well deserved. San Antonio blew their chance.

I vote for Seattle.

Basically SA told MLS one thing, then when they thought about it, changed their mind. Of course the icing on the cake was that they told MLS free rent but when MLS was given the lease it said "pay here!".
Getting a new anti-soccer/pro-NFL (and the NFL is NEVER coming to SA) mayor didn't help.
Good riddance to SA I say. I feel bad for the fans in that city.
I think Toronto, Houston, Rochester, Seattle and maybe another team in Chicago or NYC area have to be the top picks now. I don't see it happening in Philly, Cleveland, St Louis or Detriot.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how a team in Vegas might do? That would be another natural rival and a great road trip.

The idea has been thrown around before. Problem with most major league sports teams and Vegas is that they are afraid gambling will occur (which it will).
I am not sure if Vegas is the right market, because there are so many other things to do. But if an invester wants a team there, it could happen.
