I second that...I am very excited to see Trembley starting. I was VERY impressed at how hard he worked in the game against Chivas at home. He always gives it his all and doesn't back down from anyone.

First post here... i am also a season ticket holder... but anyway i'm really excited to see Trembly getting the start, he seems to give it a 110% when he gets in. But, why not have Dunseth play in the middle and Pierce on the outside?

I wondered that, as well. I guess Pierce played in central defense for a couple years in New England and is fairly comfortable in that position. It'll be interesting to how a three-man setup fares without Eddie Pope in the middle. The key to the whole thing will be keeping everybody in the correct position.

p.s. Welcome aboard, Hunting fool!

👍

Well, there's good news and bad news.

The bad news is that we lost, and we still didn't score.

The good news is that they actually looked better. I liked having the 2 man front, and Andy Williams was moving forward, which is a new and exciting prospect. It didn't really work out much, but it looked like we had a better chance with that formation. The thing is that with only Kreis up front, the defenders already know where the balls going to go. Kreis gets the ball; Kreis gets surrounded by 4 or 5 defenders. This way they at least have to defend 2 forwards.

The other good news is that Besagno wasn't bad at all, and nearly scored a goal. The closes anyone got.

I don't know, Trembley got awfully close, all he had to do was KICK THE %$#%@#$%#@$ BALL! Thanks, I feel better.

👎 Williams

Am I the only person in this forum who thinks that Andy Williams should NOT be starting?? I don't know if it's just me, but I think he looks lazy out there on the field, and I think he's slow, and just doesn't care. He has his moments, but it just seems like he doesn't take the games seriously. He flops, and whines when he doesn't get his call, and I would really like to see Ellinger start someone who actually WANTS a win. 😠

That's exactly why my dad calls him "Andy Wynalda" now.

Though he did show a better effort this last week, it's still frustrating because we all know what the guy can do when he's in form.

Okay, let me be the first to suggest this...

...big deep breath...

...ready everyone?...

I think it is time we seriously consider dumping John Ellinger. I am not calling for it just yet, but the possibility probably has to be considered and discussed openly. Coaching pros is a lot different from coaching volunteers and kids, and his one year of experience as an assistant coach of a pro team 10 years ago may not be sufficient for us to have faith that he will be able to bring this RSL team around. We may need to get a coach with some professional experience as a player and a coach. We can blame Dipsy, or Williams, or that Kreis gets triple-teamed, but perhaps the ultimate responsibility lies with the coach and his decisions. I know some have said that we looked better this week, but in my opinion we were lucky that this match wasn't 4-0, and we have Countess to thank for that. I think that we are going to be really lucky to get a playoff spot this season. If we don't get a playoff spot with the talent we have, then it should be time to send Ellinger packing.

Of course its Ellinger's fault, he is the coach. However, in the same way it was stupid to dump Rongen for CUSA, Ellinger can only coach those players on his team. The new CUSA coach is going to get about the same results until they get new players.

Perhaps the problem is that he can't get results with the players he has. Perhaps Ellinger didn't pick the right players. Perhaps some big fault lies with GM Pastorino as well.

Then again, the team has only play 11 games. 21 to go. The Revs only scored 9 points before the summer ended and in some dramatic change of fate ended up in the Eastern Championship, almost beating eventual Cup winners, DC.
Thoughts to ponder. 🙂

My question to that is simply do we have any reason to have faith that Ellinger has the skills to turn this around? Ellinger is NOT Steve Nicol. Not by a long shot.
