I'm assuming no one read this thread.

How can you guys not comment on the "Foes aim cleats at Fairpark soccer idea"
http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,600137484,00.html article?

There are several ppl still fighting for Block 22 and Gateway locations!

Maybe ppl are burned out on stadium controversy?
Or maybe, like me, ppl actually vacated the forum for the holiday.

Of course. I vacate the forum on the weekends when many ppl come in here to debate/talk (but mostly vent).
Holidays are the only days I can spend a lot of time in here.

But back on topic, I thought that Fairpark article was very good and brought together a lot of points that many pro-downtown SSS ppl have been saying.

I agree. Again, it's good to have different groups/cities fighting over RSL's stadium.

It also helps that I want the stadium downtown, but I think the article made some strong arguments in favor of it.

I'm concerned that a stadium at Fairpark will never be anything but a concrete hulk surrounded by blight. I've been to too many sports facilities around the country that end up that way.

Sure, we just want a stadium and will fill it wherever it is, but I want the stadium--and RSL--to be an integral part of city life, and downtown in the only place that wil give us that. It's not perfect either, but it's the best option. Now if we can just come up with an extra $20 million . . .

The Sandy site wouldn't be that bad as close as it is to Jordan Commons and South Towne Mall area, but I would still much prefer they work out a downtown site.
